O-line is overrated.

All preseason, I heard how this is our best O-line yet. With CLM being a fomer O-linemen, I would think it would be a strength for us, but I have never been impressed with them...ever. I think our talent level is the best in a long time, but over the stretch of years, I would say it has been the team's weakness.... consistently. We have a talented QB, talented RBs, WRs, TEs, clearly a talented D all around, and our special teams are phenomenal, typically, so why do we struggle on O-line? Is it our scheme? our coaching? I know we are injured, and O-line is a tough position on the knees and back, but it is that way for other teams, too. What gives?

I agree. The loss of Faulk is hurting a lot worse then I thought it would. AU came into the game giving up over 200+ yards a game and we barely got 150 averaging 4.1 per carry. I think they're going to cost us a game down the road if they don't improve.

You can't keep shuffling players around and expect cohesiveness. Injures are hurting LSU. That may be the weak link this year.

Meant to say that we barely got OVER 150. Bottom line, we didn't meet our average against a team giving up over 200 per game.

Right now I think the offensive coordinator is overrated. How many years has our offense continued to let down a superb defense?

So you think all is fine with the LSU offense? Perhaps coaching the o-line and being OC may be one job too many for Studrawa.

That misdirection pass was executed perfectly against a very mediocre secondary, but it needs to be thrown to the back of the playbook. Florida, SC, Bama, even Moo State pick that pass off and probably score on it.

It's dumbfounding to me that we do not have play action passes with the quality running game we have. It would be so easy to execute. I don't like Stud's play calling, but its hard to question a guy who's only lost one game as the play caller.

Have to believe those early fumbles threw off the rhythm they were creating. And LT is a liability. But you don't lose the top rated LT in the country and expect to go on business as usual. The Florida ends and Clowney are going to eat his lunch if Josh D doesn't step it up.

I felt Studrawa was a subpar or average at best offensive line coach. Right now the offense is Stud's to run to overwhelm and outclass inferior opponents while also directing the much ballyhooed offensive line that was supposed to be the major strength on that offensive unit. Neither is producing in games where the talent level on the lines isn't separated by that of a giant chasm and that is a major problem for LSU.

How does one win the SEC when they can barely score on a very poor to at best mediocre Auburn squad?

That record doesn't mean crap. Subpar execution is subpar execution. And that misdirection play by Ware was FAR from perfect. It actually was sniffed out from the very beginning. It was ONLY because of a great play by Ware that that play didn't blow up in our face.

The sad fact is LSU started out moving the ball and looked really good on offense. Zach making quick passes in a run blocking formation, Ware running really good. After the second turnover and more importantly the Auburn TD, Auburn and the crowd got into the game and started playing what is most likely one of their two bowl games (second being Bama). This was the back breaker game for Auburn, I fully expect them to lay a goose egg next week. This game was just too much emotion and heart for them not to come out flat next week.

For LSU this was a great gut check. We had a lot of freshman in their first SEC game in a hostile environment. Better for this to happen mow and give the coaches two weeks to correct issues than for it to happen 2 weeks from now against Florida, a team that can score. Still for me there was quite a few new wrinkles on offense that I hadn't seen before. The entire passing when everyone is blocking run play shows they trust Mett to make that call at the line. Something I haven't seen a LSU QB do before. It's a shame about the fumbles because I honestly think this game would have been a blow out if we don't lose those balls. After that nerves kicked in on our young guys. Miles said this at the half and he was right.

I never thought that Auburn would be a cakewalk for a minute. Auburn:

    • Always plays LSU tough, especially in their stadium
    • Is a perennial SEC tier 1 program..."off years" are a very relative concept
    • Auburn is 2 years removed from winning it all...they still had a fair amount of players that were considered young during their BCSC season
    • Auburn plays power option football and grinds out time eating drives by chipping away 3-4 yards/pop
LSU has a reshuffled line with a lot of YOUNG talent. Lonergan was rolled up on in the 1st series, which had a negative effect on our OL play all game.

This game was won in the trenches and our trench won!
