Trial and Triumph: Stories Out Of Africa : NPR

    October 9, 2008

Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, NPR's Africa-based correspondent, tells why her beat has proved one of the most interesting this year.

She discusses the stories that have been painful and devastating for many nations on the continent such as the violent political fights that have led to power-sharing deals.

She also describes the stories that have been exciting, including the U.S. presidential race of Kenyan-born Sen. Barack Obama.

In an attempt to be objective, I don't see anywhere in the transcript where she describes him as "Kenyan born", though I didn't listen to the audio.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the guy or his policies, but there are many many more less vague references to his citizenship or lack thereof to back the whole birthplace issue, if that's what you're aiming to do.. Here's the only section in the whole 12 minute transcript where she mentions him..

Me? I'm waaayy over that issue. That horse has been dead, burried, fossilized, and dug up by archaeologists as far as I'm concerned. I was just making a point to Sourdough.. And now that I looked again, I see he was saying NPR made the Kenyan-born reference, not the lady being interviewed.

But honestly, I don't care where he's from. I'm more concerened with his spending habits and rapid expansion of government more than anything.

Not you, Swerved. That was more for the originator of this thread. I was just suprised to see that people are still beating the eff out of that dead horse.

It has to be true if people say it is.

I've seen the Birth Certificate so I don't question his citizenship. Whether he's a Muslim, however, is open to debate IMHO.

he clearly is not a muslim.

    odds:

    christian: 6%
    atheist: 93%
    muslim 1%

regarding his citizenship, i cant imagine why i would care about that.
