If you weren't actually around watching college football at the time, then you don't get to claim it. Now a 80 year old fan has the right to throw out some smack about games and titles won in the '40s but unless you were around to watch it then just stfu. Some 20 year old bragging about sh-t that the team did 65 years ago is just stupid.

On the other hand, making your own NC ring, after not even making it to the NC game, is pretty lame too.

So the way I see it, Auburn and Bama both have some pretty sorry fan bases.

A poll a teen put up on the web that eventually, by the results of the poll, said USC was the People's National Champion but then he moved the date the poll ended back a few days to reflect Auburn should be the Champ.

Come on now. I don't know if you were alive for the Deitzel era, or when Casonova was running the ball, but even if you weren't it doesn't mean you can't appreciate what they did when they were in BR!

I think we should be proud of our accomplishments and traditions throughout the years. That is what makes up a program. Just because we weren't here for it doesn't mean people didn't work just as hard for it and represent that university. Why should we not celebrate the chinese bandits, fighting tigers, purple and gold, etc...?

I know that you can read and are for the most part reasonable. I did not mock The Barn for an undefeated season. I was mocking the "National Championship Rings." Most people in the SEC mock USC for their claim of a split NC with LSU.......everyone knows that we all signed onto the BCS and there was not a split NC. Therefore, your championship ring and National Championship Hayride parade through Opelika are at best funny and at worst pathetic.

The NCAA only reports the Football Thesaurus voted for bama that year, and that publication wasn't in print until 1946:

I have never understood the audacity of actually claiming the 41 title while ridiculing a celebration of a title that Auburn does not officially claim. Most bama folk say they were robbed in 66, that is what the PNC is all about.

Auburn University officially only claims the Associated Press (AP) National Championship of 1957 (although the school does acknowledge the 1913, 1983, 1993 and 2004 titles in their media guide).
