Probably. I was stunned at her comments. Her lack of leadership was apparent. Once upon a time the Service was pretty badass. Today they seem rather pedantic.
And it's unfortunate, but you can bet the bad guys have taken notice. If I was the POTUS, I would be spending a lot of time in the WH.
That's all that was on the local news last night and this morning. A couple of things of note: 1) The sick dude went to the Presby Dallas ER on Friday with flu-like symptoms and didn't mention that he'd just returned from West Africa. 2) The ambulance that transported him back to Presby on Sunday is sitting in quanrantine, and apparently, the "victim" had explosive diarrhea there because the paramedics and firefighters who were on the call are quarantined at their houses currently. (But there's no reason to worry.) Also, the man in charge of the health department in Dallas was on the news assuring the public that only 12-15 people came into contact with this guy while he was symptomatic. That seems like a low number, but whatever, I guess.
Maybe that's because he's a Liberian citizen who moved here 10 days ago and was living with relatives. That's one of the biggest reasons why Ebola has not been contained over there. People lie about their exposure. I wonder if he had enough time to sign up for Obamacare.
Well, the White House has been vulnerable for some time. Not as bad as #10 Downing Street, which got mortared by the IRA once. Maybe this incident will cause some tightening up. That 7-foot fence has been there since the 1960's to keep people from walking on the grass. No one wants to build a wall, but I suspect they could make a taller fence or a fence/pit that would not block the view of the building, but would make it more time-consuming to scale the fence and trigger alarms for a quicker response. Women security guards? You don't want anybody working security details that can't defend themselves, male or female. There are some broad-shouldered, six-foot women out there that can handle themselves and they should be recruited. Small people, male or female, better be a martial artist. More alarming is how close you can get to the White House with a gun or a rocket launcher. I'd hate to see Pennsylvania Avenue closed, but something will have to be done. Honestly, If I was Obama, I would take my family to spend more time at Camp David, where he is guarded by Marines and no one can get close to the compound, until the White House can be made more secure. It may be time to stop allowing tourists into the White House except when the President and his family are elsewhere.
Meh....I'm sorta torn. Yes on the martial arts but I still have concerns about a female doing the job. He can be guarded by Marines but transport and escort is still done by the Service. "A private security contractor with a gun and a violent criminal past rode in an elevator with President Obama during a visit to Atlanta in September, a congressional source confirmed Tuesday." And they had not done a background check on him. Pierson needs to go.....NOW.
Now they are saying a nurse in the ER did ask about his travel history and he provided it but somehow that information was not communicated to the acting physician or medical team. Huge mistake. While symptomatic, he was around school-aged children.
5 children at 4 different schools....and those schools are still open. I'm thinking it's a good time for home schooling.
In a not so surprising development, she submitted her resignation. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/10/01/secret-service-director-resigns/
