Florida pretty much played the best football they could have played, and now that i have had time to sit and think about it, and watch the game again, there are some things that struck me, which could have made this game totally different.

    1. The Danny McCray tip, if McCray knocks it down, UF punts, and our offensive mind set is alot different when we arent trailing.

    2. The second touchdown Tebow scored, the play before that, the whistle was blown and UF was called for a delay of game, Tebow was running the ball and was stopped which would have brought up 4 and goal from the 2, UF would have kicked a field goal which would have made the game 13 to 0, and 16 - 7 at the half.

also little things that went wrong the 2 interceptions, the andrew hatch to charles scott fumble all led to florida confidence just bursting and ultimately to our demise.

I have confindence that this team can beat Florida, but no one could have beaten Florida last Saturday. They put together the perfect game of football, and the football gods were not smiling upon us at all. I mean how many of you have ever seen a delay of game called on a team on a kickoff???

I honestly believe that we have great team that will finish top 5 this season. I also think that the co defensive coordinators need to use this as a lesson on how not to scheme, because its obvious that when you dont put pressure on a good quarterback, you will get burned. I thought Harry Coleman did a great job on Percy Harvin, and i thought that overall our secondary played well. Linebacker play needs to improve, and it makes me wonder, and i hope someone else comments on this but, how do you guys think chad jones would work out at linebacker in a speed defensive package?

Anyway i think we can beat Florida, and i hope we get another chance to this season, if the coaches put together a better game plan, and we dont make stupid mistakes, i think we have a very good shot at taking them.

For anyone who thinks that just because we lost to Florida means Georgia and Bama are going to crush us, you are an idiot. We match up better with Georgia and Bama, both have to play us at home, with OUR backs against the wall now. The pressure is off of LSU now, we will be the underdogs going into both of those games, and we will come out victorious.

See how an extra day to calm down before posting can help?

I encourage all who came on here flaming any and all parts of our team, to just sit back, take a breath and realize there's plenty more to go.

OTS - Delay of game was for kicking the ball when the Ref had not whistled it ready for play...

wouldnt that be speeding up the game? i thought maybe there was a time limit he had to kick it before a penalty?

they should just blow the whistle and hand the dude the ball to kick.

There is a clock where you can get a delay as well.

What happened was they gave him the ball and he put in on the tee etc...
The ref never blew the ball ready for play... (red hat guy was still on the field for a tv timeout).

Jasper wasn't paying attention and kicked the ball.
In effect it worked like the new NFL rule where if a player spikes the ball after a normal play(non-TD), they get tagged with a delay of game penalty.

isnt it like 25 seconds you have to kick it once they blow the whistle?

wasnt aware of kicking it too soon. always seems the whistle is blown right away.

I think the ref always stands in front of the ball until it is ok to kick. He was not in front of the ball so we kicked away. A mental error on both parts but we get the penalty of course. Another in a long list of bizarre, never to be repeated again penalties against LSU.

The Head ref is positioned in the in the endzone. He stands on or about the goaline, blows his whistle and does some kind of hand motion to signal the ball ready for play.(wind the play clock signal)

Yes it seems kind of stupid that the kicker has to get the signal from the ref that is farthest from him but I would have thought the guy in the red hat still being on the field would have been a good sign that they were not ready to start. Also, the other ref does not always wait to give the kicker the ball as was the case this time, but generally they do wait.

Lesson learned, I'm sure we make sure we check out the head ref from now on. And I am pretty sure it wasn't a game changing call ala AU in 06

In the past when that has happened, the ref just blows the ball dead and the the team rekicks. No penalty. I'm not sure where the delay of game for this began.

probably when they were screwing with all the other time issues to try and reduce the time of games to fit into time slots for tv
