I don't think there is anyway that Crowton is here next year. I think he will leave on his own. I like BG and realize he is going to get his shot at OC soon but I don't think we will be his 1st OC job. Someone will take a shot with him but we need to aim higher IMO.
I don't think so either, after all he is the WRs coach and ours right now are playing like chit with all their dropped passes...
I agree fully. Anything other than GC sounds enticing, and BG came in with high hopes. Problem is you just don't know what you have under the hood until you start to drive it. CLM is getting a test drive the past 6-12 months since hiring BG, and if he thinks BG is the solution, he will make that move in the offseason, or God forbid, sooner! I am not so sure he thinks BG is THE solution, however. We probably need a little more seasoned, experienced person than BG as a permanent solution. Now, if he canned GC now, which I don't think is in the cards, BG would be a good interim solution, I think.
Interesting! That is the scenario I hope for. CGC leaving, and a thorough search for the right fit, experienced OC, kind of like what happened with the DC search landing Chavis (minus all of the Istsl drama prediction threads:rofl
That's because our head coach has a lot more to do with the play calling and offensive design than you think.
Exactly. I want GC gone as much as anyone, but he does not have free reign over the offense. If GC does get fired or resign, I wonder if Miles will continue this with the new OC or if he'll back off and let him run the offense as he sees fit. Like he does now with Chavis on the defense. If I'm a top notch OC and I know the head coach is going to handcuff the way I run an offense, I doubt I take the job at LSU.
well, CGC presumably was not handcuffed at other stops in which he sucked, so CLM has not negatively impacted his future. he just gave him an income source for 3 years longer than he should have. i would think walking in the door, any new, experienced OC would clarify upfront that CLM will allow him to run the offense un-handcuffed, like with Chavis as DC.
I am glad Miles is starting to look over Crowton's shoulder because that has not always been the case. Only here and there the last 2 years according to what I heard from a staff member. When Les has taken over in games like AU last year we had more success also against MSU this year. IMO Miles will have no problem handing over the full reins to an OC who can get the job done.
Vandy was in desperation mode because they are last in nearly every statistical category. LSU isn't quite at that level, yet. Vandy ended up losing 49-14, FWIW.
this is what i believe, too. i do not believe the conspiracy theorists on here who maintain that CLM is handcuffing CGC. i agree with what you are saying, that if CLM is now looking over CGCs shoulder, that it is a good thing, and should be happening more rather than less. and that any new OC would have free reign on the offense, as they should, for the most part anyway.
