uga is on a roll, but have been inconsistent all year. i think lsu's def line controls their young o line (two true freshman and one sophomore). the worry to me is our defense's habit of overpursuing, overrunning the play and missing tackles. watching the ole miss game was a lot like watching the miss. state vs lsu game this year: they did more not to win than we did to win it. stafford is not as good as most uga fans will have you believe (we saw that against uk). uga does have a couple of good receivers, our def backs will have to adjust, by that I mean actually cover someone. i think we would do well against uga. UT worries me a lot less, but ainge is a good drop back passer and if we don't get pressure he can cause problems. i think lsu does well in the seccg whomever they play. as long as they do the little things right we come out on top of either uga or ut.
Georgia would also have its list of reasons as to why they should be afraid of playing LSU. #1 team in the nation #13 rushing offense in the nation (Georgia - #35) #56 passing offense in the nation (Geogia - #71) #21 total offense in the nation (Georgia - #71) #11 scoring offense in the nation (Georgia - #33) #4 rushing defense in the nation (Georgia - #25) #9 passing defense in the nation (Georgia - #34) #2 total defense in the nation (Georgia - #22) #9 scoring defense in the nation (Georgia - #28) #3 turnover rate in the nation (Georgia - #46) #5 in the nation in pass interceptions (Georgia -#87) Colt David - #3 kicker in the nation Chevis Jackson - #8 pass defender in the nation The best HC in the country (32-4 record as of 11/18/07)
What is our road record this year anyway? My point is that all sounds good but you can throw it out the window if we play the Bulldogs in Atlanta, their home state. I'm not saying we will lose btw but they are a legitimate SEC team with a good coach, you brought up CLM's record but you didn't list Mark Richt's record, I think we are also 1-1 against them in Atlanta? Just being a realist here! Btw, we lost to Kentucky, where were their rankings?
First of all, I went to the Georgia - Kentucky game last Saturday and I came away with thinking that Georgia probably won't make it to the SEC CG simply because Tennessee will be able to wear Kentucky out just like Georgia did. All Phat Phil needs to do is watch the second half tape and see how Georgia held Kentucky to 3 late points. Meanwhile, I don't think that LSU would have an easy time with Georgia simply because of the turf and the no wind situation. Georgia does have some very fast guys at the WR positions. Bailey, Henderson, MoMass, Bryant, Goodman and Wilson are all 4.4 or faster. The Georgia linebacker positions have finally been figured out and Curran is going wild. Believe me, LSU should pull for the Vols on Saturday.
Baaaah. LSU only needs to worry about LSU. Less than 7 penalties, continue the amazing lack of fumbles lost, and throw only 1 interception - we win. Against anybody. The defense is beat up, but the offense is healthy and are only halted by themselves, usually. We can probably forget about holding teams to 10 points or less, but teams will have to score more than 38 points to beat LSU. Luckily, only one team has done that this year - in 3 OTs - and they did in fact beat LSU. It just doesn't matter who LSU plays. They just have to PLAY!
those are all the reasons why we need to pull for tennessee. It's been a long time since all that happened in one game. But agree that we win against anybody IF that happens.
Good point. I just think the team has it in them. I guess my point is, Tennessee can spank the Tigers as well if they play sloppy. As can Mizzou, or Kansas, or WV, or Ohio State, etc. So it doesn't matter. We play well, we win. We play sloppy, we will struggle mightily against all these teams.
