This is about what I expected from this team. I thought we played extremely well defensively for the first half but football is about adjustments. They made them, we didn't. The concern last week and it happened again today is our defense was gashed in the second half. Offensively, we had something going in the middle of the field with the tight end in the first quarter. We completely went away from it until the last drive of the game? People are stacking the LOS and daring us to pass. The truth is I thought we would lose 2 or 3 of the next 5 games. I still think that is the case. We will have a battle against SC, A&M at their yard, Bama and State. I think this is a 9-3 team. The biggest problem we have is the lack of leadership and offensive playcalling. Add to that Mett is probably not as good as we all hoped. It is what it is people.
I am upset and surprised, I just thought our offense would have been better, thought the defense would be the same. We did lose a few offensive weapons but I thought we would have enough coming back that it wouldn't be this bad. Russell Sheppard? This guy was suppose to be real good for starters. Now that I think about it our offense was like this in a few games last year? Hmm, Georgia and Bama, the last 2 games of the year at least, streaky at best. I think I overestimated thinking better QB play, offensive line play and RB's would make a difference, thought those aspects of the game would be better. I think we will probably lose 3 or 4 games now after this game. Some might disagree but if I lost games I would rather lose them with a little better offense. I mean how many teams especially in the top 25 only gets 2 3rd down conversions in a game? Is Florida really that good? It was amazing how well McCarron played last year for Alabama for a first year player, I don't understand why we can't get a QB to play that well his first or second year. Anyway, not the end of the world, life goes on and hopefully we will get better.
I don't think Florida is all that good. Their defense has played well all year but offensively they did what they needed to in the second half. Ran the football. We can point to McCarron all you want but at some point we need to look at coaching.
How can he be when everytime he drops back, there are 3 defenders in the backfield. And when he does make a good pass, our WRs drop it or fumble. Save for the 1 pick, Mett didn't play poorly today. He played about as well as he could, given the circumstances.
And watch that replay again, OBJ stumbled on his break and almost fell, if he runs a clean route, he could have jumped and got hands on that ball that was picked off. Now, he probably wouldn't have caught it, but at least it wouldn't have gotten picked. And, if KadronBoone doesn't drop the previous pass, that would have more than likely been a first down run play. You are correct, this isn't 8's fault. In fact, he got demolished today, and didn't fumble once. He is getting better, unfortunately, this offense, our beat up o-line, and our receivers are doing everything they can to hinder that.
This offense looks like the offense we show Bama. Absolutely atrocious. If " it is who we are" we may end up 8-4. If the last 3 weeks are any indication, I don't see a team left on our schedule who won't give us fits. All six teams have an offense that is lights out better than ours.
I hate to break it to everyone, but there's a distinct possibility we can lose to everyone remaining on the schedule, possibly with the exception of Arkansas. State is for real this year. Ole Miss is playing everyone scrappy as hell. And this team seems like it's had the life completely sucked out of it. We keep accumulating season-ending injuries at this rate and we'll be starting all 2's for Bama.
This could end up being one of the biggest busts in the history of college football. We were per-season ranked #1 Wow!
