… Of LSU’s signees only four, Toliver, Benton, Ernest McCoy and Jarvis Jones are not fully qualified academically, lacking sufficient ACT scores. Extra: Cornerback Delvin Breaux of New Orleans could return to the practice field by the spring of 2008, Miles said. Breaux suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck during his senior season. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/featured/5742321.html
I knew of the others, that's the first I had heard about Jarvis. Benton is the biggest concern. McCoy & Toliver are expected to make it.
I hope they're in an ACT prep course to help out. I know some High schools offer them, but not sure if they all do.
Thanks cig. At the High School I work at we have one and after school tutoring but the enrollment/attendance is unusually low. When I coached, if any of my kids had a "D" or lower they came into my classroom after they ate lunch and I'd work with them but it's not always practical since our teachers have so much more on their plates today.
I think Coach Miles must feel pretty good about the 2 OL qualifying, as he had a chance to take several others. I think Toliver makes it. Hope Benton does too.
this is true, i guess, but with core grades, they'd still have 4-5 months to bring them up... with ACT scores, you just have 2-3 more tests left...
There are the following tests this spring(and tests that may not have returned scores yet: Jan. 27 SAT Feb. 10 ACT April 14 ACT May 5 SAT June 2 SAT June 9 ACT July 15 Final official transcripts due at campus Admissions Office for students admitted for fall 2007 not sure what this one is but: May 12 Analytical Writing Placement Exam for fallterm freshmen who have not yet satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirements
Its kinda sad really... if a kid can't make a what? 19? on the ACT... I mean, a monkey could make a 15...
