With Jefferson unable to avoid the sack by throwing the ball away or any other maneuver, you'd think the coach would send in Russell Shepard or Lee at Q.B. to try to get SOMETHING going. Jefferson has not developed as we had hoped, so someone else is going to have to step up. But then, Coach Miles won't let anyone step up, especially a lowly "freshman". We won't win the BIG games without a really, really good quarterback, and Jefferson has not shown us anything to make us think he's "the man". And even though Shepard is a freshman, he could provide the spark we need on offense. May the Saints preserve us....:dis:
If for one minute if CLM thought shepard or Lee would win this game, they would have been in there! Our D was outstanding, our O is improving every game! We'll meet the gators again in the SECC, and we'll win.(PERIOD):geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Dont put this on JJ when UF rushes 3 and JJ is trying to make a pass b/c a pass is the only thing that will get a 1st down and the WR's are double covered. Tell me, what can Lee or shepard do with weak ass pass block?
JJ does not know how to use the pocket... The FLA de's were speed rushing deep and JJ just dropped deeper instead of stepping up into an obvious pocket.
The fact remains: we need better QB play, and Jefferson didn't deliver. We only have two alternatives: Lee (probably worse) and Russell (green, but with more potential according to most pundits). The O line is not very good, but this is all the more reason to have a scrambling QB like Russell in the game. Jefferson looked dazed and confused as to what to do, when he must have known NOT to be sacked, which was his worst option. Sorry, but Jefferson isn't the man, despite my hopes that he would be.
Yes, JJ will take a while longer to become a quality SEC QB but I think the whole team played well. The offense needs time.
