This post celebrates great play by LSU TEAM, by a faithful supporter of THE TEAM. Similarities to last week: 1. Defence played very well, bar a couple of blown coverages; good things happen when they're on the field. 2. Lee won the game, playing with great poise 3. Lee obliged CLM to play him more, against CLM's better judgement 4. WRs look great when Lee's in the game 5. Run game more effective when Lee's in the game 6. JJ doesn't throw INTs when Lee's in the game 7. Tea Party-approved play-calling on final drive led to high risk 4th down play 8. LSU TEAM dominated the game, and won despite the coaching 9. Peterson dried out again. Or is it super-stress and muscle tension? Coaches need to find out or it's no Heisman for him. 10. Officials missed multiple INTFER penalties. Great call this week by CLM/CGC on last play, throwing same fade after Interf on 1st one; CB couldn't mug Toll twice 12. Team in ugly orange uniform lost. Some big diff's: 1. Enjoyed the TEAM a LOT this week 2. Lee stayed in the game with goal-to-go. (See #3 above) 3. Clock mgt was poor this week at the end of BOTH halves Also enjoyed driving in convoy thru MS, AL, FL with Tiger flags flying. AL fans in particular were very gracious toward THE TEAM. TN fan was rather morose, rather like Urban Meyer's at tonight's press conf and our "illegal fwd pass". Did he think the passer crossed the line of scrimmage? He's just covering up for not anticipating the fake after FG setup / TO / FG fake. It's good to see him squirming. And Steve Spurrier back to his jovial self. Bring on AUB; how to stop Newton??? Great w/e. Thx TEAM.
Yeah I have to disagree with #8.. LSU's play calling was better tonight than against Tennessee. There were some calls at the end I didn't like but nothing like it's been. I like the way they were using Lee to move the ball down field, and then using Jefferson as a dual threat in the red zone. I think that's more his place of comfort because he can pass at short ranges like that, and was fairly successful rushing the ball.. Jefferson is better on a short field than starting a drive.. Lee did however throw that fade rather nicely at the end. Especially since on the first attempt at it there should have been a flag (I'll have to look at it again) so they just forced it and did it again.... Poetic justice. Very happy for the team and coaches tonight.
Game should not have been close. The team savaged FL in 1H, then played soft in 2H. Not so much specific play-calling, as an attitude (aka coaching strategy) to take absolutely no risks once ahead. Plain vanilla football, with every man jack in the stadium knowing what's coming next This team is good enough to play cutting-edge offence ALL time, and to recover from the occasional INT, esp with this D. If Lee keeps this up, how good is Tolliver going to look every week, and Randle, and Shepherd, and JJ as the specialist weapon, and the squad of RBs, and the TEs? I can get quite giddy at the thought of what these guys can do. Will they be allowed to? How many plays was Shepherd in against Penn State? It's verging on the criminal that we have so much talent withering on the vine. Appreciated ur comments.
Poor clock management to end 1st half. Milk the clock on 3rd down before calling a time out and kicking field goal instead of hurry up and run play then call time out and kick field goal if needed. Starting JJ instead of Lee. Giving JJ offensive series instead of using him in goal line only. The run run pass punt play calling on the 2nd and 3rd to last possession of game. Going for two instead of one with over 14 minutes left in the game(really bad call). Had they got the one they would have needed a FG for the win instead of a tie. The 3 straight runs before the fake FG. I wouldn't quite put it as strong as won despite coaching. However coaching was at times a hurdle the team had to get over. Still a much better game by both Miles and Crowton, but both have room to improve. The offense looked much better prepared. They looked like they actually had an offensive game plan and Lee was able to execute it. Still Miles love affair with JJ could cost them down the stretch. What exactly does Lee need to do to earn the starting job? Not complaining because it was a great an unexpected win, but it didn't show Miles to be a genius. If the team could cut out the major mistakes that cost them dearly it would have been just as dominating a win as Alabama had over them the week before. Hopefully Miles will see the light and give Lee the starting job and more playing time. The team could definitely use this win as a springboard to bigger things if they continue to improve.
what would you have called Only two things to do with the ball , run or throw , most of the time you want a team to stop the run , to do what ? Open a place up for the pass
