It's college football, not a means of life support. Yes we all love our Tigers, and want to see them play their best and win every game, but the outcome of each game isn't life altering. To play arm chair QB and coach is rather pointless. The coaches get paid a bunch, and the players use their talent and heart to try and win every game. I'd say they all know more and want to win more than we want them to. To be unhappy or dissatisfied with how things are going is one thing, and somewhat expected. To call out and insult the coaches and players is unacceptable. Until those that feel they must do so are the coach and/or are a player they really are just spitting into the wind.
I know I'm new here and all but I keep reading these negative messages all over these boards and all I see is people trying to toot their own horn...like these coaches have less to lose than the fans do. Great posts here though.
im pretty sure most if not all of the nastiness is towards tressel. hes making top dollar as a professional and gets criticized as such. and who are we kidding that these players are student athletes? theyre professionals and everyone including the ncaa knows it. they just dont get paid like it--outside of bama and oklahoma. anyhow, my point is universities are aware college sports is big business and charge their fanbases outrageous prices which leads to outrageous expectations. its their own fault. there are a lot of nutjob fans with lots of money. these schools thrive and depend on them for alumni cash. it fuels the monster. so its hypocritical for them to want it both ways. they created it now blame the very fans they sought. of course we can all agree blasting kids publically is not a good thing. but most coaches who depend on these booster's money hide behind the words 'student athlete' and 'education' whenever the seat gets warm. its a farce.
If it is in regards to the million dollar boosters, I agree with you to some extent, but if we're talking about the same type of people that call the radio shows and post on forums like here, (for the most part, unless anyone is a million dollar booster on here), then I don't think your point is totally valid. Good though.
it applies to any over the top fan. they depend on average joe just as much to fill those seats, buy those parking passes and donate $$. so unless schools are performing background checks on crazed fans before accepting their dollars on forever-increasing prices, they know what they're getting. they use this over-the-top passion in their favor when extracting their money. they just dont want it when things go bad and the same passionate fans are unrealistic in their expectations. unfortunately they cant have it both ways.
Does anyone know what is the total $ expenditure/year for season tickets in the upper deck? I'd like to see a complete breakdown of what it costs to join TAF, what you have to donate to get in the lottery for the tickets, what you have to pay for the tickets, what the lixcensing surcharge is, any other charges, etc. Someone asked me and I had no idea. I'm sure the grand total will make my head spin.
In this respect I agree. Still though, the outcome of games isn't life altering and the uncalled for bashing and behavior of some fans is over the top, unless you are a kick returner for the Buffalo Bills.
for us, yes, but for those shelling out thousands of dollars in hopes of buying their own happiness, no. id say its even more unrealistic not to expect outcry no matter how ridiculous we think it is. its a product of the business model. sell x amount of product strictly due to over the top fan. so dont act surprised when over the top fan is unrealistic and unhappy.
Rough numbers for the LSU Tradition Fund or the TAF surcharge (depends on who owns the seat). A skybox will cost you a $40,000 surcharge for the privilege of paying full price for your 20 tickets. The club levels are around $2700 plus ticket Sideline seats are around $500 surcharge plus ticket Endzone seats are around $100 surcharge plus ticket Parking permits are extra and range from expensive to really expensive. TAF costs $100 a year minimum and anything you want to pay over that. But 100 bucks a year buys 3 priority points annually which is the best deal going. Go to the TAF website for the unified priority point information.
Amen! Dispite being in the south, Atlanta sometimes seems awfully far from home--esepcially on gameday and I LOVED the forum and gameday threads. But those threads have been hi-jacked lately by mindless numbskulls destined to just rain negativity. Someone on the game thread alluded to the same thing. I say let's take the gameday thread experience back. The thing that's ALWAYS seperated TF from Tigerdroppings and other LSU forums was the fact that we delt with trolls swiftly. I'm ok with complaining...we all get caught up in the moment and I know not EVERYTHING is ALWAYS rosy....but if you're one that can't contribute to a logical conversation, choosing only to spread venom, than you should be shown the door. I have no sympathy to someone who's sole purpose is to drag down everyone else to their level of pitiful sorrow.
