Just people that are not genuine and overly enjoy in engaging in manipulation. Sorry if I misused the term, I'm 54 years old and my kids use that term a lot.
I dont think you misused it, I get what you are saying. I dont think Debose fits into that catergory, I honestly believe Debose wanted to come to LSU, but his family probably pressured him to stay close to home, so they can be closely involved in his collegiate career. More power to him.
You're probably right on Debose, like I said I could be wrong, It just seemed to me that if Harvin was really going to leave and there was so much going for him opportunitywise at UF, why all the actions/information release that made it seem like we were really in it. If he wanted to stay home to be near friends and family and play for a great UF team... good for him. But if those are his reasons for comitting, we probably would have picked up on that early. I know he visited LSU on his nickel and liked LSU. Who wouldn't be impressed. But you keep hearing stories about commitments being kept silent so one school backs off on recruiting others for the same position or other recruits looking elsewhere because they think someone is really going somewhere; and the sad truth is I think tose tactics could have a real effect. If Debose were to (hypothetically) sign with LSU on national signing day, for example, Fla would be left with a hole in their recruiting class. Lots might laugh, but personally, I would feel uncomfortable about that and would have lingering doubts about character. Like you said, this might not be the case with Debose, but in general I'd be naive if I thought it didn't happen.
I am just as disappointed as you are about Debose, I was very high on this kid and I was for certain he would be a Tiger. After all the reports about his interest in LSU and coach Miles. The guy didnt even mention LSU during his selection or Miles. Thats why I believe he will stay committed to Florida and his family had more to do with his committment than anything LSU could have done good or bad. In the end he will be a great player and I wish him the best. However, we will beat Florida with him on that team, thats all that matters to me. CUM is a dirty SOB, but his methods work, however I rather have a class guy like Miles getting quality young men over recruits playing games shuffling hats like the bearded lady at the circus. All of our commits have outstanding character, Loston made his announcement to right way, without all the fanfare. Not one of our commits have made a spectacle of the process.
Then you should have had a major problem with the way the former Patrick Johnson (now Peterson) handled his recruitment. He hasn't gotten much grief here because he ended up at LSU. DeBose was tight lipped but not intentionally misleading.
I was mainly speaking out about the situation moreso than Debose himself. Misinformation can come from any source besides the player. But what do you think happened with Peterson? I didn't read any boards last year.
