I would have held a press conference today to fire him after a very uninspiring performance from his team against arguably the worst team in football, the Kansas City Chiefs, who basically gift wrapped the victory for San Diego yesterday. His team tried to give it back when they were called for a delay of game not allowing the official to place the ball down with under 20 seconds to go in the game. It allowed for KC to try to kick a "shorter" 50 yard FG. Too bad he didn't make it. I hope the GM gets fired. That's who really needs to go for San Diego.
While I agree with Norv being fired in just that manner I believe AJ Smith has been the saving grace for the Chargers since his hire. He is a recruiting phenom who has amassed a truck load of talent and kept the best on signature. He flew into Baton Rouge to Watch Hester geaux and decided then he was worth trading up a first round pick for. AJ got beat down locally for it and now those opposed are silent where Hester continues to be solid every play. AJ is a hat trick almost every pick in the draft. Coaching and offensive line have everything to do with the Chargers failures this year, but AJ doesn't coach em.
AJ Smith hated Schottenheimer and got rid of him and then picked Norv Turner. At least Marty got you 11-13 wins. Fire AJ.
I already fired the Cleveland dude. Thanks. Although technically Andy Reid is the worst game manager in the NFL today. He is so very tempting to fire, but I haven't been able to pull the trigger. He just keeps winning. He just happens to leave 2 wins out on the field every season though.
Technically Dean Spanos hired Norv however AJ never said no to the hire. Norv was not hand picked by AJ. AJ had everything to do with Marty packing his way out. Which would you think are the lesser of the two evils? I do not believe this years results accurately contribute towards the obvious answer. Norv will get his last shot cause AJ doesn't or hasn't said otherwise. Spanos is ultimately responsible just that he can't be fired. :hihi:
The owner should have fired both the GM and Turner as soon as the GM told him he hired Norv. I just don't understand why these coaches (Turner, Jauron, Phillips, etc) continue to get hired when they do absolutely nothing at their previous job's. I mean what did the GM see in Norv Turner to want to hire him?
I believe some desires now geaux on muted intentions for a certain head to roll. The Chargers are actually alive and have appeared to have played the best ball the have mustered all year against a competitive Buccaneer team. Defense is above their yearly standard and wait for it... LT is finding holes. Veterans are catching bombs. And scoring! With a Broncos loss can the boys in powder blueux geaux head to head and beat the weakened Broncos to control their post season hopes therefore dashing the dreams for a swift Turner fire? Will AJ be the hero once again??? Stay tuned! :hihi:
They beat a terrible Oakland team, a terrible KC team (barely), an imploding Tampa team, and then they play another mediocre/imploding team (Denver). If and when they reach the playoffs, they'll blow it.
Well no doubt they will blow it. Just getting that far after said seasonal performance with the potential for getting to the post season merely takes the sexiness out of firing someone that should be looking for a new house already!
