I think what he meant was that our road games are harder, not that we have more of them. Even years require us to play Auburn, Florida, and Arkansas on the road. Also have to play our second Eastern division opponent on the road in those years. Odd years we get those guys at home, but as competitively as the SEC seems to be with one another, the advantage also seems minimal. The reality is the fans have less competitive games to see at home, after drinking for 10 hrs.
ANSWER THE QUESTION, MR. BIGGLES. NAME A TEAM THAT YOU SAY WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER THAN LSU WITH OUR SCHEDULE. ANY NCAA TEAM.
WELL, ACTUALLY SEVERAL TEAMS COULD HAVE DONE BETTER, INCLUDING LSU. See, I can type in all caps as well. It's one of the silliest questions I have ever seen on this board, and seems very out of character for a poster as intelligent as yourself. If we lose this Saturday to Tennessee, will you still claim we are better because we beat Va Tech?? It's just silly. We had a tough run, did very well, still have more games to play. We barely lost to Kentucky and Arkansas but also barely beat Florida, Auburn, and Alabama. All those games could have ended differently. You really think nobody else could have done better? Including ourselves? Your question is a hypothetical but you defend your claim by using actual losses for other teams, as if there is no possibility of a different outcome. It clashes with the very concept of hypotheticals. I understand your zeal for our team and pride in their accomplishments(I share this with you) but I do not agree that no other team could have won ten games on our schedule.
I think the point he is trying to make is that any number of teams could have done better. USC, Georgia, Missouri, Texas, maybe even Michigan. How can you prove otherwise? No one will ever know. I could argue that maybe Florida would have done better, or at least won more of the games more handidly. Is LSU's win over Ole Miss any more impressive than the other 6 teams that beat them?
JL, I know you said an NCAA team and I wasn't abel to come up with one and still can't so I am going to cheat and say the New England Patriots.
sorry, but I just dont get this brutal schedule thing...... If Im not mistaken this is LSU's EASY YEAR. Tough teams were at home (Aub. Fla. Ark.) AND we played the easy side of the East (UK and USC...... not Tenn and UGA. If you think this year was tough hang around and start a thread about it next season:wave: :geaux:
I don't think so. But this is a tough call. We're 10-2, but could realistically be 12-0 or 7-5 (additional losses to Florida, Auburn and Alabama). Something special happened that night against Florida, and the beat down of Va Tech was awesome. I think those 2 games really made me believe this was a NC year. Then, our Tigers rebounded from the UK loss by defeating Auburn in dramatic fashion. Once again, I (and probably WE) got all goo-goo over the idea of the "Dream Season"...... At this point, I am proud to be headed to the SEC title game. I still have a bad feeling that with all the injuries, the tough schedule, and off-the-field HOOPLA ........Tiger fans may not enjoy Saturday, Sunday and Monday. :geaux:
Facts about national rankings and schedule toughness amongst the HYPERBOLIC SCREAMING.... LSU's strength of schedule rating is 35 of 120 teams. Five of the top 10 (SoS) are SEC teams (Ole Miss, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida). Ole Miss and South Carolina are 1 and 2. BCS Top 10 in SoS order (Sos, BCS Rank): Florida (9, 10) Georgia (14, 4) Virginia Tech (28, 6) LSU (35, 7) Mizzou (37, 1) West Virginia (49, 2) Ohio State (67, 3) Oklahoma (71, 9) Kansas (96, 5) USC (97, 8) Make of it what you will. Personally, I think it says we had a difficult schedule, but not as difficult as some of us like to claim. Certainly more difficult than Ohio State, Oklahoma, Kansas and USC. Add that to the manner in which we lost, and it speaks to a strong showing across a difficult season - only Georgia and Mizzou directly compare, with West Virginia pretty close as well. Bottom line: I think Georgia, Mizzou and West Virginia compare favorably STATISTICALLY. :geaux:
