Before today's game, I would say we were facing a speed bump. I voted that way in the poll that SabanFan started. I am not so sure about the speed bump theory anymore. If Les does the right thing and fires both of these guys (no demotions, they don't belong on this team), and gets the right person in place as our DC, it's a speed bump. This is why we are paying Miles so much money, to make these tough decisions.
Its not necessarily that we lost 5 games, its how we lost them. We have too much talent to be playing like we are. But for a miracle against Troy, we'd be 6 - 6.
Yes, the coaching staff did a fine job of developing players in years past, but that cannot be said about this year. We showed no improvement on D.... the young secondary never matured. The D never gelled! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I was thinking the same thing as well, about the speed bump theory after today's game. Whether Les does what has to be done will be the major theme for the near future. I'd like to know how the team prepares for a lesser bowl at this point. There's gotta be some pride there -- I'm sure they don't want to finish 7-6. The thing this, there can't be much confidence in the defensive scheme. How does CLM fix that? I'm sure he's not firing the co-DC's between now and whatever bowl we go to. :geauxtige
Some of you seem to forget that Saban went 8-5 in 2002. Getting blown out by Va Tech (26-8), Auburn(31-7), Alabama(31-0), Texas(35-20), and losing to Arky by 1:wink: Untold thousands of fans were calling for his head. Just give it time to work itself out. It's not like we've had consecutive seasons of piss poor football. It's one season. Let's see what he does the next couple, then call for his head.
The attitudeof some posters toward CLM on this board reminds me of a line from SILVERADO: "You're going to have a fair trial, followed by a first-class hanging". Let's give the man a chance to make the changes. I still think he knows what needs to be done. We'll see if he does it! :geaux:
that is definately the Right way to look at it. BUT one little problem. We were in fact REBUILDING that year. and we've been recruiting well since. although the argument can be made in your favor about losing Perriloux. there is NO excuse for the Defense other than poor coaching, which gets us right back to what needs to be done? I think we know and if WE know you can bet LSU knows. And CLM's paycheck comes from LSU. Everyone has a boss my friend even if you own your own business.
