Reasons you shouldn't worry about the future of our program: 1- Miles is currently bringing in a class of talent, for 09', that would make any coach envious. This may very well turn out to be LSU's best recruiting class EVER. 2- Our problem on offense this season was due to lack of production at the QB position and turnovers by the QB. We have now found our QB for the future and he will only get better. 3- The defense is poor, I know, but if you think Miles won't do what is necessary to right that wrong, then you're fooling yourself. Miles's job depends on it. He's got more to lose than any of you if our defense isn't addressed in the off-season. 4- We still have more talent than 90% of any team in America and more on it's way. We WILL return to the top of the SEC. We lost our star QB, our defensive coordinator, and handful of studs to the NFL. What team wouldn't struggle??? Considering all that, we still came close to being a 10 win team this year. If a 7 to 8 win season is considered a down year, I'll take it. :geauxtige
Yet we are losing to teams with far less talent. If you can't beat a bad team with your more talented team what good is more wasted talent going to do for you? This isn't a talent problem nor something that a good recruiting class can fix. This is definitely a coaching problem and the weak sisters on the staff need to be weeded out. This is a huge fork in the road for Miles, he desperately needs to make some good decisions now. The first two, Mallory and Peveto should be easy.
Yep, and we keep talking about this recruiting class being the best ever.... The last few classes have been real good, and we're 7-5. Charlie Weiss has been high in the last 2-3 years worth of recruiting rankings and he's 6-5 so far this year. Recruiting is only part of it! You gotta coach/ develop/ teach/ train and discipline these kids. Yeah, we keep hearing about how great this class is going to be...... don't even get me started! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
If you fill 'em with water, it's still a pot hole. This is a bump in the road IF Miles makes changes to the defense. If he fires Peveto and promotes Mallory like I think he will, we're in for a long, bumpy ride.
1. Miles has recruited top talent since he has been here, does'nt matter if you can't coach and develop them. 2. I agree. 3. I hope you are right. 4. That's debateable. 5. I hope you are right.
So, then, don't fill 'em with water. This is B.R., not N.O. (Don't get too mad, N.O. residents... I lived there for a longtime! I just know that the only thing that ever fills holes in N.O. IS water.) :geaux:
I predicted 9-3 this season, said 8-4 wouldn't shock me. 7-5, well, I'm shocked. Even with suspect QB play we should not have lost 5 games. I'm pretty even keeled, but its obvious to even me that changes need to be made on the defensive side of the ball, coaching wise.
