I'm telling you it's all about Les Miles. The media is not going to ever let him off the hook for the Ole Miss game until he proves them all wrong. We are never going to get the respect we once had until this team starts proving everyone wrong. And the first game of the season is a great time to start.

I am willing to bet that if Les Miles and Nick Saban swapped jobs. in the media Alabama's ranking would plummet and LSU would instantly skyrocket.

Well all they have to do is win the big games like UF and Bama and it all goes away...

    Respect is earned........
But having the 112th ranked offense last year and getting beat by Big 10 team, not able to score a TD at home against UF, and the Ole Miss debacle. what do you expect.

I am one of the few around here that IS a Miles fan thinks his recruiting and character means a lot. BUT if the team wants respect you dont need some stupid news person to give it to you.
Earn it. Beat Bama, Beat FLorida, Beat Arkansas handily for once, win the SEC.

I know we have had this debate before but I am one (I know I am in the minority) but if a team needs bulletin board material to get motivated, you have already lost.

    Otherwise zip it...

    Sorry...

Preseason respect is overrated. Post season is where it counts.

I'm willing to bet that had Saban had the past 2 seasons we have had and was the coach, LSU would still be getting the respect that we have earned, and I'd bet there are a bunch of fans that wouldn't be as hard on him as they are on Miles.

Has nothing to do with respect. Rivals.com the recruiting site, hired Rivals talk show host Bill King. He was hired by Bama Booster, "Former" Rivals.com CEO Shannon Terry several years ago.

Maybe someday, some lawyer type will figure out it is not only a conflict of interest, but also gives Bama "Unfair Advantage" in NCAA Recruiting.

I've heard Bill King go off on Miles, then talk to a high profile recruit directly after one of his 20 minute rampages.

I'm not too worried about getting respect from radio guys. As a rule, most talk radio hosts talk out of their backside.

The only ones I need respect from this fall are the 12 opponents on our schedule. We take care of them and they'll have no choice but to respect LSU.

Just seems, last year following the 2008 season LSU was still running ahead in most articles on who takes the SEC West. I can remember us being picked 2nd and a few non believers had us 3rd. That after a 12 and 2 season. LSU was trying to plug the holes of an 8 and 5 season. The deal is, you just won the NC the year before and continue recruiting all these blue bloods and perception was still running high. With two year's now removed and the Tide back to full strength, perception is reflecting that.

The media does not specialize in naming front runners successfully. This decade is littered with teams that were picked to win it all. Heck even the SEC writers only pick the winner 1-2 times/decade. If LSU plays well, plenty of writers will crawfish.

We don't need media respect for validation. That comes with winning ball games.
