If I'm old enough to have a child who posts here, I may have to kill myself. But who am I kidding? Looking at Facebook, I'm among the few in my high school class who is not a grandma, yet. Holy crap...
When I was 29 I saw a woman who had been a year ahead of me in high school so she was 30 or 31. She introduced her 15 year old daughter who was holding her baby. Yes, my friend was a 30 year old grandmother. Thats just wrong for making me feel old in the prime of life
It shouldn't have made you feel old. Over the summer, I went out for dinner with a group of "girls" from my high school. One of them said, "Do you want to feel old? Stephen (her son she had in high school) is 27!" Didn't make me feel old. I have a 13 and a 9-year-old. (But I was "old" when I had them, according to the ladies with whom I was having dinner.)
Yeah when you Facebook your ex and ask her who the hottie with her in the pic is and she says, uh my daughter, you remember the little girl that was 4 when we dated??? Awkward.
I remember Russell as being a raw talent who never put it all together. He had some exciting come back wins (and losses), but the reason they were exciting in the first place was because of the hole he put us in. Then he'd go to the sidelines and ham it up. He had 1st round potential, but if it would have been truly harnessed I think he would have had more success (at LSU and NFL).
www.SportsReference.com Offense/Defense 2005 43/03 Jamarcus Russell 2006 09/04 Jamarcus Russell 2007 11/17 Matt Flynn 2008 30/56 Jarrett Lee 2009 77/11 Jordan Jefferson 2010 45/11 Jordan Jefferson 2011 17/02 Jarrett Lee/Jordan Jefferson 2012 58/12 Zach Mettenberger 2013 24/21 Zach Mettenberger 3/9 33% So, I count 2006 and 2011 as half years. 2006: Despite Jamarcus Russell's stats and a damn strong D, we ended up in the Sugar Bowl. I think this is explained by Jamarcus' indifference. 2011: Jarrett Lee had a pretty impressive run, but was benched for JJ. We know how that ended. I feel like we would have won the NC with Lee finishing out the year. 2007 and 2013 were offensively awesome. 2007: NC!!!!! 2013: Zach Mettenberger was on fire. The D may have been 21 statistically, but it stunk. I feel like Mettenberger was good enough for a NC; unfortunately our D blew chunks. Again, of these years, a full blown Miles recruit (Lee) led once, and was benched half-way through the season for JJ.
