When Miles threw JJ under the bus with the infamous "clock it...clock it" debacle - that was picked up by national media relentlessly and could have easily soured recruits on Miles and once that started snowballing, it's hard to reverse the trend.
What trend? Miles has recruited quite well since that game. LSU was #2 in recruiting last season. Part of this years problem is that we are playing those talented youngsters before they have really been trained up.
those kids don't remember that. that was on the local news after the game, not that it would have mattered anyhow. what ha ha happened was, is this antiquated offense les has run for the better part of 10 years shown on a tv near you every Saturday. not sure how any parent allows their kid playing a skill position anywhere near this trainwreck. its painful to watch as an alum, I cant imagine how bad itd be if your child was playing wideout or qb. But its not like you didn't have fair warning. this offense has been putrid most of his tenure.
Then, I'm afraid that LSU's offenses must have been putrid always. Les has about half of the top ten offenses in LSU history.
every team has their best offense in the last 10 years because offense has changed. but if you have eyesight, you wouldn't be arguing stats. youd know what this is about.
But if you go back and watch old games, you'd always be frustrated with LSU's offenses. However, yes, offense is changing in college football. But a strong defense (wish we HAD one) can still win championships. A flashy offense with no defense is just that. Flashy, but not championshop caliber. That being said, last year's LSU offense was fun to watch most of the time.
When people start saying "ignore the stats, ignore the numbers, ignore the wins" I generally just ignore the post.
that's the point. doesn't matter what the stats say. this offense has always been tough to watch minus a couple of seasons. yall still hanging on to the belief it was all the previous OC's fault I suppose. I mean how many do we have to go thru before its clear this is what les wants to do and by god, hes going to do it. Ive never seen a display of play calling like I did Saturday unless I was watching NFL films in black and white on espn classic. I mean, that string of play calling encapsulated everything that is les miles, good or bad. However, it set football back 50 years and LSUs program with it. The '11 bcsncg was proof he doesn't get it. last weekend was just an extension of that.
