I didnt force him into anything, he did that himself. If Lee has improved that much, he would be starting. I dont make the rules, Miles does, and he seems to know alot more about Lee than you do, so take that up with him. You mean he sucked as in starting out 5-0? To put it plainly Lee looked awful in his second series against Bama and he faced the samething Jefferson faced.... like I said quit making excuses, I can admit the penalties killed his confidence, but the throws were really bad after that first drive.
Two elements all right. A loss to #1 Florida and a loss to #2 Alabama. If #8 LSU finishes out, then as far as I'm concerned we're #3. And that great enough for me.
Would it be the first time in college football history that a starting QB lost his job, and then took it back from who he lost it to? I don't know, but can't think of any time it has happened, and if it has I don't see it happening here. Of course Lee wasn't really the starting QB, he was thrown into the job when Hatch went down, but he had way more starts than Jefferson. He just couldn't prove to be better than him. Even though he does have some very strong qualities, I think that Jefferson is still our better choice.
Jefferson hasn't exactly set the word on fire running the #12 offense in the SEC. He's earned the start and someone is going to have to take the job away from him . . . but it could happen.
It could happen, but it ain't gonna be Lee. LSU's rushing numbers are off much more than the passing numbers when comparing them with the best teams (Bama, Florida, etc.). They're ranked 9th in both, but there is a much bigger difference in rushing numbers. Scott had a down year up until these last two games, Keiland Williams has not developed, Holliday has barely been used and we're still waiting for these increased touches for Shepard that Miles talks about every week. Throw that together with badly timed penalties on offense and there are some offensive issues which still exist. Jefferson's biggest thing was not taking chances and getting sacked too much and he has improved in that area. I liked our chances of possibly winning that game if Jefferson didn't get hurt.
Why not? Shepard has zero passing yards. Lee has 8 starts to Jefferson's 11 and he still has more passing yards. Less than 200 passing yards a game just doesn't cut it in the SEC. It's the reason teams are stacking the box and daring LSU to throw. Jefferson is not taking advantage of LSU's fine receivers. If he doesn't finish out the season averaging over 200 yards, there is going to be another quarterback competition in the spring.
