LaFell is displaying the EXACT same characteristics as Bowe was as a Junior....and LaFell is only a sophomore. It took Bowe a full year of playing before he became the player he ended up as.

edit: a full year playing and Lasik :yelwink2:

    :thumb: Agreed

Lafell has all the tools as CParso said he just need the experience. He will get better. I think when his career is over he'll be a 1st round pick and you can quote me on that.

Sometimes we get receivers a la Michael Clayton and maybe even Terrance Toliver who are somewhat dominant as freshman, but they are pretty rare. It seems like most of the time it takes 1-2 years for receivers to fully mature and I think Lafell is well on his way. Bowe, Doucet, Devery, and Josh Reed even took longer to reach the level of dominance we love to remember them by. Craig Davis was always a solid contributor even as a freshman, but I don't know if you could classify him as fully mature/consistent until his junior year.

You aren't the first person I've heard say that, but I haven't noticed it before.

The interception was due to a bad pass - way behind him. He barely got his hands on it reaching back & it tipped the ball up a little bit.

Thank you because I've been arguing with a friend about that pass and about Lafell. I think Lafell will be fine and become a great WR ppl tend to forget all of the Bowe drops(some after Lasik) and he still was pick in the 1st round.

Agree. Looked at several NFL Mock draft sites:

    nfldraftscout.com
    nfldraftblitz.com
    nfldraftdog.com
    etc.

All have Brandon LaFell ranked between the 2nd & 4th WR taken in the 2010 NFL Draft. Thats' with Harvin going #1. Althought Harvin will probably come out early, and be replaced by Arrellius Benn at #1 IMO. Most of the sites have elevated LaFell's draft stock with his 6 catch 73 yard performance against Florida.

He can't compare to Chris Pettaway. Pettaway was a Parade All-American offensive lineman out of Florida who was LSU's top recruit about 20 years ago. He was a "can't miss" blue chip prospect and a man among boys in high school. But he didn't have the fire in college. He stayed at LSU for four years and never even lettered. That was a bust!

I was waiting on it... You always bring this guy up whenever "biggest bust" is mentioned.

Rivals just updated LSU's Target list and put 5 Star OL Matt Patchan eventhough susposedly he's a FLA Lean.
