This weekend the bottom 3 teams play the top 3 teams (difference between "top" and "bottom" almost neglible at this point). If the bottom 3 teams sweep the top 3 teams then the standings would appear as follows: Chicago....... 68-67 -- Milwaukee.... 66-69 2.0 St. Louis...... 64-69 3.0 Cincinnati..... 65-72 4.0 Houston....... 63-74 6.0 Pittsburgh..... 62-74 6.5 Pretty pathetic.
i've been saying it and I still say it now, divisions and conferences in sports are stupid and also unfair. the NBA playoffs would be 100 times better if the Mavs could play the Spurs in the finals one year or the Suns and the Mavs, etc... The NFL would be a lot better with a Colts/Chargers superbowl the MLB would be a lot better with a possible Yankees/Red Sox World Series I dont mind the divisions because of scheduling purposes, but when a team isn't in the playoffs but a lesser team is, it sort of bursts my bubble. The Phillies and Braves for example are both 20 times better than the entire NL Central combined and they both might not get in.
The Cubbies have been playing great ball since the All Star break... They will be ready for the playoffs! Go Cubs!
