Does anyone know why we would have 2 different providers of uniforms? I would assume since NIKE has the football uniforms, they would leverage that to do all of our uniforms

Ya know, while watching the SEC Tourney, I was wondering the exact same thing....

From my understanding, to wear Nike uniforms in baseball now, the team would have to agree to use Nike bats and gloves, both of which are thought to be inferior. Every coach has their bat loyalties, and most of the SEC has been Easton since the NCAA cracked down on the pop these bats have. I worked in a baseball store in college, they're all almost identical.

It has been my understanding that the uniform and shoe contracts are by team, not by the entire athletic department.

Maybe they'll improve them like they did with their golf clubs. They weren't making bats when I played. I only liked Easton and Louisville Slugger TPX.

So your claim is that Nike is on par with all their competitors with the revelant products here?

As for my take, I used to be somewhat anti-Nike, and as they started dominating college sports, I actually very much respected the small minority of teams that stuck with Russell and Adidas (during the latter part of this time, when it came to SEC football, I remember Tennessee wearing Adidas uniforms).

But, in recent history, a part of me has become more lenient of the idea that Nike is actually superior to all other brands in the world of team sports equipment, except maybe for Under Armor (with the limited products that they sell), because of my own experience with those brands as a consumer.

But then again, another part of me still likes the college teams that stick with non-Nike-thing (like Russell and Adidas), partially because it is part of my historical way of thinking.

Now as for the NFL Reebok thing, I never liked that idea at all.

Out of curiosity, anybody know what college team wears Reebok? Or for that matter, what other major college teams aren't wearing Nike, besides LSU baseball?

I believe Russell makes Nike uniforms. So regardless what logo is on it, it all comes from Russell.

Hawaii signed a deal with Under Armour for all their sports not to long ago. Boston College is the only team I know in college football that wears reebok. I think the baseball team has a contract with Wilson.
