How long before they go to an 8 game playoff ? One of the reasons OSU got in was Herbie, the people on the committee don't have time to watch every game, but they do have time to watch ESPN with Herbie telling them who they should put into the final 4.
ridiculous tcu educations.
I haven't looked to see when DII teams start their seasons. It may be the same as DI. Saying many DI teams start in August has been true three times in the last decade. It'll be two times in 2015 because the season starts the first week of September. The point of using Slippery Rock as an example still stands. The regular season would change drastically. There would be no championship games the first weekend of December along with the last two regular season games having to be canceled. The suggestion that most teams can drive holds true for a few of the DII conferences. But, certainly not all of them. Some conferences, like the Southern, has teams in west TN and stretches to the midlands of SC. I have my doubts Delta State is driving to play Florida Tech. In fact, I doubt they drive to play Valdosta St. DII playoffs do make a point of trying to keep their first round games as close to the schools as possible. It's increasingly difficult as they progress to round two, the quarters, and on down the line. "ESPN Big10 hysteria?" This is as simple as it gets in my opinion. It's not a level playing field when one conference has more bye weeks than another combined with not having to play a conference title game. That said, the fault of TCU and Baylor being left out falls at the feet of the "Big 2;" OU and TX. If we choose to look at strength of schedule and set the off weeks aside there's very little difference between TCU and OSU. (Sagarin has them at 44 and 53 respectively.) Blame certainly goes around when you've got the conference commish saying co-champs at the same time there's a huge media blitz (all season long) about one true champion. QUOTE="TCUTiger, post: 1436225, member: 6600"]ANYONE that has watched them play knows they are far better than OSU. I would say Baylor is too. Vegas thinks the same.
You're using Vegas lines out of context—incorrect as well. There's less than a touchdown difference in the hypothetical match-ups between OSU vs TCU/Baylor. Context of those lines is Vegas wants equal action on both sides (as in number of bets.) They aren't saying they believe Baylor is 2.5-3.5 point better than OSU. They're certainly not far better. This isn't correct either. The Big 12 schedules conference games. It's up to each team when they schedule out of conference games and where they choose to have their off weeks.
In their power rankings, they probably do. When it comes to favorites and underdogs we both know that's all about equal action.
It was not Vegas picking the final 4, at the end of the day you heard nothing but total BS as to why OSU even after losing to VaTech was a better choice than TCU.
