It's no use. Everybody wants to see half empty stadiums for games that don't matter. They want to see starters rested in season finales so they can be ready for a playoff run. They want to not care about winning a game that shoulda been won cause really, we'll still make the playoffs. They are ready for teams with chump change wins to get hot when it counts the most so they can still get a shot. They also want the Saints to make the playoffs this year too. If your schedule is too tough to get in the top 8, schedule more cupcakes and be graced in, no matter the content of the season. The only school that doesn't want to extend beyond 4 teams is the bammer. Just like NASCAR, folks got tired of Jimmy Johnson winning 7 titles so they adapted a playoff system that allowed 2 teams without any wins to damn near win a title. Thats why the seats are near half empty and the sport is dying on the vine. The bastardization of college football has begun and now, folks want more.
Using a link on the CFP website, I sent them an email asking them if the field could be expanded from 4 to 8, and if it could, what would be the earliest date. I'll post the answer if I get one.
hardly anyone but the committee believed 4 was the perfect number. people were just happy it was a start at least. 8 teams are enough and always will be. kinda like your parents giving you a curfew for 11. you still hate it and it sucks ass but its better than staying home. if there are more than 8 one loss teams and you're left out thats tough shit. unless its LSU, like i said before. then theres going to be a problem and the system much be changed again.
which sport is dying grandpa? tell me more. change is good. the antiquated system of 100 bowls and no winner sucked.
i think they can change it next year. if so, it will happen then or 2016. espn will write a check for any amount when its offered. book that.
A) I resent the granpa title. I am easily 10 years removed and that is only if my kid fucks up early. B) I never said please return to the BCS formula. I was all for change and we got it with 4 teams in a playoff. I simply object to extending that brand new change even further to 8. Who really cares if 5-8 did not receive consideration? I mean, reasons that matter... C) So I am not wrong? You simply object to my opinion and not my reasons given. I have yet to hear anything that promotes an 8 team playoff that outweighs the reasons I give and yet, I have only scratched the surface.
I agree. I don't know that 4 or 6 is the magic number but 8 is the max. It happens. Pete Carroll complained once upon a time and a change was made.
NASCAR I am not arguing, simply pointing out the effects that may occur if we stretch a playoff any further than what is already there.
there is no perfect number. if it was 8 this year, Ole Piss would bitch that they beat 2 of the teams ahead of them and should be included over Michigan St. who already lost to 2 of the playoff teams. then we'd expand to 12 or 16. Rinse repeat until everybody with anything remotely resembling a pulse gets in. the passion and chaos that drives the sport are dead, and 3 losses don't hurt so much because you still getting into the dance. fuck that! let me keep the chaos. let me keep the controversy. let me keep the only sport that basically demands perfection out of it's participants. if you want to watch a sport that everybody gets in, little league baseball is played year round in Louisiana.
