from a St. Louis sports blog...
"Nick Stavinoha ... is batting .346 (for AAA Memphis) and spraying line drives all over the yard..."
Rumor is he and Super Prospect Colby Rasmus may get called up to the big leagues pretty soon. It'd be nice to have another Tiger in the majors.

    Way to go Nick!

good stuff. i wasnt even aware he was there with all the colby hype. luckily colby has been struggling this year delaying his promotion but with all the hype he gets he will be the next in line unless he breaks a leg.

    Id prefer nick, obviously.

I believe Colby is notorious for slow starts. However, this "start" lated until Mid May. I think in the last month he's batting around .350.
With so many of the Cardinals struggling (Ludwick and Ankiel have certainly cooled off and Duncan is lost at the plate), perhaps they both get called up around the all star break.

yes i knew he had picked it up but hadnt followed closely enough to think it was worth a call-up.

i need to read some scouting reports on nick. i wasnt aware he was that highly touted after these last few years.

duncan needs at-bats daily against righties with pujols out.

    ludwick has been a life-saver.

ankiel is heating back up. he's a solid run producer.

as long as the cards are contending i dont think they call up either anytime soon. colby maybe due to pressure touted studs get regardless of their production.

Rasmus does this every year. Starts out slow before going on a tear in the second half. He's doing it again this year. Batting around .350 in June after struggling to stay above .200 in april and may.

It's great to see Stavinoha having some success. I'm not sure how the Cards will have room for both of them unless it's a september call-up. Ankiel, Ludwick, and Shumaker are all having pretty good years. Rasmus clearly seems to be the future center fielder, but I don't see it happening this year--or at least not until Ludwick stops playing way over his head.

Bryan Anderson is the other "star" on that team and should be getting a call at some point, although maybe not until next year.

Brian Anderson is an outfielder for the white sox. A few years ago he was thought of as a pretty promising prospect, but now not so much.

Bryan Anderson is a catching prospect for the Cardinals. I think I remember seeing him the futures game a while back.

And Nick is with the big boys
    http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/B77D1EFEFDD69DD4862574700011CE2B?OpenDocument

"The club is expected to promote outfielder Nick Stavinoha from Triple-A Memphis. In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Stavinoha, the Cardinals likely will move pitcher Chris Carpenter to the 60-day disabled list."

"Stavinoha, 26, arrives after a strong first half for the Redbirds. The team's seventh-round selection in the 2005 draft, Stavinoha has been classified as a man without a position but could find himself starting at first base Sunday against Red Sox lefthander Jon Lester. Stavinoha, a former middle linebacker at the University of Houston, arrives after leading the Redbirds with a .346 average and 50 runs batted in as well as 10 homers in 260 at-bats."

I didn't know he used to play football. No mention of LSU in the article.
Article says he'll probably play first bast for the injured Pujols.

He's batting 5th, and getting the start at DH (12:30 CT, ch 726 on DirecTV)

Hope he does well, but still pulling for the Sox.
