Yeah, if you want to make that the standard way everybody deals with American prisoners in the future. Dumb idea. The ones we really can't deal with get shot while being captured. Surviving capture has never had good odds anyway. Disregard of American law is highly unAmerican, Commie.
A POW is a soldier for a recognized government with whom we are at war. Gitmo prisoners are not Germans, Japanese or Vietnamese. The are enemy combatants doing the work of organized criminal terrorists. I know we are not going to shoot them but I would be the last to shed a tear if we did.
They are either enemy combatants (our country was attacked, like Pearl Harbor and George Bush declared a War on Terror). . . or . . . they are international criminals (stateless terrorists). So they either go into POW camps like Guantanamo or they get tried, convicted and sentenced by the law. There are probably many of each in Gitmo. Al Qaeda attacked us and are criminal terrorists, period. The Taliban prisoners were actually in charge of a country that we invaded, conquered and occupied in search of Al Qaeda. They can make a case for being POW's.
