Not a betting man, sorry. What you got, 6th round, UDFA for Mettenberger? Let's hear some actual substance vs the thread is laughable bullshit.
Remember, Troy played UAB just last week & he looked like a 1st rounder, too. Troys QB broke the NCAA record for accuracy against this UAB secondary going 30 for 32. https://bigstory.ap.org/article/scotts-overtime-fg-lifts-troy-over-uab-34-31
I think he'll get a first round grade, just not sure he'll certainly get drafted in the first round. The league is abnormally saturated with quality starting QBs. There are several teams in limbo with young QBs like the Jets, Jaguars, Bucs, and Dolphins. But you only have a few with an obvious need like the Raiders (God forbid). I could see a team with an older QB like the Broncos or....THE CARDINALS, or maybe even the Saints drafting him and letting him learn for a year or two and maybe in the first round. The leagewide need is just not there like it was three to five or so years ago. But yes, the Mett we see tonight, if he sticks around all year, will get a first round grade. But grade is completely different from projection. And if the read option remains prominent in the nfl, he won't go ahead of Tahj Boyd or Bridgewater or Mariota for that matter.
I do agree with you on the saturation factor. It is at an abnormally high level. The Vikings (definitely put up or shut up time for Ponder), Cardinals (Palmer is a stop gap), Browns (make or break year for Weeden possibly), Jets (I think Geno is going to be a disaster), Raiders (yikes) are definitely at the top of that list. You probably have 24 teams secure in their current starting QB. We'll see if these read option QBs stay injury free. That will determine where we go with that current trend. Also Manuel and Smith will likely look pretty bad this season, dampening the excitement of the instant impact such a player can provide.
Another thing going for Mettenberger is the tutelege and much more pro style offense under Cam Cameron (see Brees, Rivers, Flacco). A lot of NFL teams have much respect for what Cam Cameron can do with a QB in maximizing his abilities. This will weigh greatly in Zach's favor.
3rd or 4th round. Just no need for him to be drafted earlier with quality starters in the league and if you get a QB in the first round you're paying extra.
Surprised that the 5 TDs is a school record. I'm thinking of the Carlos Carson 6 receiving TD night against Rice, but apparently more than one QB threw all of those.
