I just don't understand why they agreed to pay him such a ridiculous amount of money for one good season out of several average ones.
That's just how pro sports work these days. The Ravens were probably terrified that he'd go to another team and have more good seasons.
They didn't just pay him good money, they paid him record-breaking money. The kind of money that's reserved for proven, elite QB's (Brees, Peyton, Brady). Flacco isn't anywhere near that level.
The crazy thing to me is, between Manziel, McCarron, Murray, and Mett, SOMEBODY is getting left out of the All-SEC discussion. It won't be Manziel. And it probably won't be Murray either if he puts up good numbers the rest of the way with that shell of a team left. Nov. 9 just might decide who gets the nod for All-SEC honors as well...
I predict the the All SEC 1st team Quarterback's last name will start with an M, and I also predict that the SEC 2nd team QB's last name will start with an M, and if there is a 3rd team, I also predict his last name will start with an M.
I definitely think McCarron should be left out and I think Murray will struggle more and more down the stretch with all the injuries. So Mettenberger or Manziel depending on how the season shakes out. If LSU wins the West, Mettenberger better be 1st team.
The Heisman should have nothing to do with NFL metrics. It goes to the best NCAA football player. The NFL is littered with many Heisman trophy winners that didn't make it in the NFL. Jacksonville needs a GM. Gabbert might actually be salvageable under the right system/coaches. The main problem with QBs is that few that get drafted highly flourish in the NFL. Way too much pressure for 22 year olds that suddenly have their bank account filled to the brim. Gabbert might be one of those guys that becomes a backup for a few years, the pressure is taken off of him, he learns under a good teacher, and pops out of the other end of the tunnel as a solid NFL starter.

I don't think I mentioned anything about the Heisman. I was speaking strictly about how someone is going to make a huge mistake drafting him high in the 1st round.
