I think we also need to wait out the 2013 season and see who wins the Super Bowl. So if someone like Denver or New Orleans wins it, that may tilt the draft towards QBs who look to have the "it" factor and have an accurate and strong arm, vs the dual threat QBs. If Seattle wins the Super Bowl, watch out, there will be a run on dual threat QBs, no matter how lacking their actual passing skills are.
I don't trust Manziel in the NFL and when it comes down to it I don't think most teams will either...at least until the comparable talents are gone. Right now, Mett is still not really being talked about. I saw a mock on Monday that even had Stephen frickin Morris rated higher than Mett. I don't even think that should've been the case last year when Mett wasn't playing that well. I think Cleveland is going to sell out for Hundley or Mariota, especially considering the trade they made today unloading Trent Richardson. I think Bridgewater will go high. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mett and McCarron in the first two rounds. Before the NFL season began I thought a lot of teams were pretty settled, but after a couple of weeks I think the following teams would conceivably draft a QB within the first two rounds: Miami, NY Jets, Oakland, Cleveland, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Minnesota, Arizona, and Tampa Bay. I also think due to age issues, Denver, Pittsburgh, and Arizona would consider depending on who's available. New Orleans is in that mix too but too much tied up in Drew to go that route. And I also won't be shocked if St. Louis, Philly, KC, and Houston give it a lot of thought for various reasons. The guys that are settled are studs, and there are more studs than usual. The rest are replaceable or at least worst threatening. I think Mett goes either Tampa or LSU West (Arizona).
That's interesting because the NFL QB that reminds me of Mett is Carson Palmer. Both 6'5 gunslingers that are statues in the pocket but have good awareness. Similar throwing motions too.
Browns are 0-2, they play the Vikings this week, also 0-2, the Browns are looking at next year. Looks to be a deep draft at many positions. Mett keeps improving, teams will be looking at him more and more.
It will be either him or Bridgewater. They both have the benefit of the ESPN hype machine now especially Teddy B. The weak schedule won't be a big deal because they'll look at his mechanics and poise. He's a better prospect than Geno Smith last year in my opinion and pretty similar to EJ Manuel. High character guy from what it seems. Zach can make his way up there but he's gonna have to light up Georgia, Alabama, and our bowl opponent to get there.
Based on what I've seen, I think Bridgewater is legit. I didn't see the UK game, but I watched him several times last year and was very impressed. I'd put Boyd first...strong arm and athletic. Kind of a Russell Wilson type, but with a better arm. Mettenberger & Bridgewater 2nd & 3rd (toss-up). Murray is a little undersized and lacks the bigtime arm, so I'd take him in a later round. Manziel, I think, is undraftable as a QB...maybe as an "athlete" or project at another position. McCarron would make a nice practice squad QB.
NFL scouts, GM's and coaches aren't going to rely on ESPN or one game when they decide whether or not to draft someone. They'll watch tons of film, have private workouts and interview numerous people. They won't give two cents worth of credence to what sportscasters say.
TBoyd is great, and I get the RW comparison. Having watched RW here in NC for several years, I'll tell you he has always had the "it" factor. I said for years he was going to be an NFL QB, despite people downplaying him b/c of his HT. Couldn't have predicted how dynamite he would be, but I suspected it. RW reminds me of JMontana, personally. TBoyd is not quite as saavy, but he's a helluva player. I think he will likely go before Bridgewater, but Bridgewater is probably more accurate.
