OK, I heard Stuart Scott say a few weeks ago that Greg Oden, b/c he didn't play last year as a rookie, could be the ROY next year in the NBA. My question is this: Could Robert Meachem be ROY in the NFL this year using the same logic?
I am not 100% sure, but I seem to remember hearing that as long as a player did not register a recorded stat, he is still a rookie. Even if he was drafted in a previous year.
is it too soon for me dig up my posts saying i hope the saints take meachem with their first pick? yeah probably too soon.:lol:
I won't lie, I was pissed when they drafted him. I didn't think they needed a receiver there, and sure didn't think he would be the one to pick even if they did. Hope he proves me wrong.
I'm not sure that it's the same in every sport. In fact in baseball you can actually play and still be considered a rookie the next year so long as you didn't get a certain number of at bats or innings pitched.
