@Cajun Sensation Not to mention Marcus Dupree never took a snap for an SEC team. Played at OU then transfered to So. Miss or something like that. Jeez.

If you are referring to Marcus Dupree as "garbage players" then you are a fool. Every intelligent football mind who ever lived on earth ranks Marcus Dupree equal or over Bo Jackson.(obviously I'm describing raw talent not how much money they made in the NFL) Dupree is easily the greatest football talent to ever emerge from Mississippi.

    That's your opinion strictly.

Additionally you've hijacked this thread which I resent!

Humor me, sport. Are you saying that, in your opinion, Walter Payton does not deserve to be mentioned on a list of Misssissippi NFL Standouts? Are you saying that in your opinion that BenJarvis Green-Ellis does (over Walter Payton)?

Go ahead and try to backtrack now and show everyone how ignorant you are when it comes to football.

Slightly off topic, but I want to read David Epstein's recent book about the different factors that go into the natural advantages some athletes have over others (i.e. Kenyan marathon runners, swimmers with long torsos). I heard that he didn't focus on football as much as many would have liked.

I think one major theme is that geography has a big role. For example (just speculating), growing up in the intense heat/humidity in southern states may give an advantage. Of course, there are many other factors including that big elephant already mentioned.

And wouldn't that be your opinion too?

No one really judges athletes by how much money they make either. They get judged by their production on a professional level. In the end, Dupree is just another 'what could have been' while guys like Bo Jackson and Walter Payton are 'what really happened' kind of guys. And what they accomplished speaks for itself. Payton was considered the best ever in the game of football when he finished playing.

Playing full-contact football since 1964 isn't exactly a pre-requisite for evaluating talent from the state of Mississippi either.

It'd be a lot more graceful of you if you'd just admit that you didn't know where Walter Payton was from. Nothing wrong with that, hoss.

Dupree is clearly an incomplete. Great back, lots of "aw man if only"

Hell Switzer bought his mom a double wide. Had to be good right?

The point Terry is that although a lot of the times you post credible things that are completely worth reading, sometimes your "Bama is holier than thou" attitude is disgusting. You said Bama stopped recruiting the state of Mississippi because of grades yet your beloved god took a dumbass who couldn't spell his own name. Regardless where he was from its a double standard, and it'd be nice if you quit acting like everyone should worship Alabama

    No Sir.

You are an arrogant S.O.B. I listed S.O.M.E. of Mississippi's talent that I liked or currently like.

One of the better players at LSU was born in Philadelphia, Ms. Just think, Jake Gibbs.
