True there is more money at stake. But that just means that there is also more to be gained or lost on either side by giving in. Therefore, the parties are that much more resolved to get their way.
Let's just say, for arguments sake, that there is a lockout and no lower-classmen declare for the draft. The SEC would be brutal next year. Jones, Ingram, Mallet, Peterson, Green, Newton all returning? Yikes. Because this scenario benefits other teams more than us, I hope it doesn't happen!
Lets hope that Jones, Ingram, Mallet, Green, and Newton all declare and then get locked out. While Peterson is smart and stays his senior year. :thumb:
That's the answer to the question I was looking for. Don't follow NFL so wasn't sure when a strike would be declared. If that's the case, there's no doubt he's gone. For those who brought up his salary, he doesn't have one now so if he has to sit around mom & dad's house for even another year knowing he signed a huge contract I'm sure he'd be fine with that...as would they. Many kids leave college without an immediate job. Who wouldn't love to have their kids around another year or even just knowing if they had a very high-paying job guaranteed within a year or so after college? THEN, he's leaving as a Jr. anyway so he has PLENTY of time left to "go to work."
My opinion, I think it is abot 90% that they lock out. The sides are just too far apart. As for if it affects the draft or not I don't know. It would seem logical that it would happen after the draft but what if there is a deadline that is before the draft? Hmmm. Either way I still think the No Fun League is on a collision course with a lock out.
The lockout might happen but it won't last long. The players have money, but not near as much as the owners. The owners could not make money for a year and be just fine. The players...some can, most can't. The lockout, if it happens, will be brief, and like it or not, the players will play 18 games next year. Those two games equal too much money to lose. The average player salary last year was about $800K. Most owners made that last night while sleeping. PP is a top-10, possibly top-5 pick. He's ghost. He even helped raised Julio's draft stock even more. Julio had a pretty good game with the best DB in CFB in his watchpocket the whole time. Before that game, there was debate over who would go first Julio or A.J. That ended. Julio is first WR taken unless he runs a 4.6 40, which is not likely. PP might jump into the top-3 after his workout because you know it's going to be epic. He'll run a 4.3 and probably hit about 22-25 reps at 225. It's going to be freakish.
The only good that comes out of losing pp7 is that he got to teach a new crop coming up like the tyrannasaurus
