Michael Irvin got in along with Thurman Thomas from the Bills among others. Kind of surprising that the former commissioner Paul Taglibue didn't get it in the first time given the length of time he served and the apparent good things he did for the NFL. Michael appears to have his stuff together and although I'm not a Cowboys fan I've always been a fan of Irvin.
I read an interview where one of the voters said Tagliabue will get in on a later ballot. Voters want to see how the latest CBA goes, since that is his ultmiate legacy was his reasoning. I wonder what Art Monk did to be left out all of these years. He has the numbers but with each passing year, those number look less impressive.
He definitely put up the numbers in a long, distinguished career. He certainly belongs in the NFL HOF.
I hate how voters try to make a point by leaving a guy off the ballot for a couple of years. Michael Irvin is obviously a Hall of Famer. The writers have to make a point...worthless ****s. Who cares that he likes hookers? A guy is either in the HOF or he isn't. Get over yourselves you ****ty voters.
Supposedly the current CBA is crap and will probably be redone. Not good for Tags. And also some voters aren't convinced he is totally done with the NFL, for whatever that means.
Monk is the ultimate guy on the cusp. Just like all of his seasons. He was a tremendous WR, but wasn't the most feared WR on his own team. Ever, if I recall. Awesome that Bruce Mathews and Michael Irvin got in. Both were great in very divergent ways.
Bruce Matthews was unbelievable. We will probably never see another O-lineman last 19 seasons again. And he was still playing at a high level even in his 19th season.
