Rivals has update the stats provided by TheDude in the original post on this thread to include the 2008 draft picks. http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=1164&CID=800827#6 They provide some interesting lists on that page, for example: DRAFTEES THIS DECADE BY CONFERENCE 1. SEC: 363 2. ACC: 331 3. Big Ten: 323 4. Pac-10: 271 5. Big 12: 256 6. Big East: 12 1ST-ROUNDERS THIS DECADE BY CONFERENCE 1. ACC: 69 2. SEC: 58 3. Big Ten: 52 4. Pac-10: 36 5. Big 12: 31 6. Big East: 10 This confirms what I believe... that the Big East is a joke, and that the Pac-10 and the Big 12 are garbage compared to the Big Ten, ACC, and SEC.
With the 2008 draft, LSU moved into the top 10 not only in 1st round picks this decade, but also in number of total draft picks this decade: DRAFTEES THIS DECADE BY SCHOOL 1. Ohio State, Miami: 62 3. Florida State: 55 4. Tennessee: 53 5. USC: 50 6. Georgia: 49 7. Florida: 47 8. Virginia Tech: 46 9. LSU: 43 10. Michigan: 42 1ST-ROUNDERS THIS DECADE BY SCHOOL 1. Miami: 26 2. Ohio State: 14 3. Florida State: 13 4. USC, Texas: 12 6. Tennessee: 9 7. Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Oklahoma: 8
You also need to factor in # of teams per conference, not to mention recently added teams to conferences. No way the Big 10 is in the Pac-10's league...and probably not near the Big XII either.
forgot about that part. That means that kick @$$ Miami team that was part of the Big East when together probably go into the ACC's total now (along with Va Tech and Boston College).
