So during the 90's and early part of this decade, Florida playing FSU and Miami don't count because they didn't leave the state? Can you dispute that opening the '07 season with Miss. St (bowl team), Va Tech (top 10 team) and Mid Tenn St. (better than Idaho) equated a 3-0 start? It's tough because of WHO is playing in there. Nobody was calling it all that in the '90s.
I guess that is what other conferences see as bogus. How does Georgia finish ranked #2 in the country when they were #3 in the SEC? And Florida above Michigan when they lost in a head to head for the Bowl game? The path of least resistance may be successful but it doesn't satisfy my need for competition. Just let me know when my Sally Field speech should commence.
Probably not. Had it been at Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Stanford, or UCLA though. Yes indeed, just as confident as we would have been in winning the road game at Mississippi State. Or a home opener against North Texas for that matter. You are so fortunate as a fan to have so many rent-a-wins built in to the schedule each and every year. I mean, the only way you can possibly lose to any of those teams is because your coach allows your starting qb to play with a hurt finger that results in five billion interceptions.
ah... Arizona... the same team that LSU beat 59-13 and 45-3 in their 2-game series... Zona State... the same team LSU beat with little to no practice preparation at all.
I DO have an issue with the fact that Florida has not left the state to play an OOC opponent since 1991 (I think?). Not saying the games they DID play don't count but overall I'm not impressed. Yes you started 3-0. Miss St? Please. Again VaTech was at home and I don't believe LSU fans would have had as much confidence going in if it had been on the road, regardless of the final outcome. Is Mid Tenn better than Idaho? IDK but USC did make an effort to get out of that game. In fact brief talks occured to replace them with Georgia but they just flat out don't leave the South............until next season. Why weren't they calling it that in the 90's?
I just meant it didn't always equate to a perfect start. Since you posted that though, when you lose to UAB, it doesn't matter if the Golden Girls are running back kicks. :hihi: Only thing worse than that would be like, losing to ULM, maybe?
