Mett, right? But, CLM seems to be enamored by dual threat QBs, i.e. JJ vs JL. So, how does Randle fit in next year. Will he be just a back up or split time with ZM, or is he a threat to be the starter? Or, none of the above.
I see a split qb rotation in our future. There will be those of us that want to see a pure pocket passer and a pro style offense. There will be the running qb crowd that wants to see the option from Randall. We will suffer through another qb controversy for years to come.
I'm not expecting any controversy until Mett leaves. Had Lee never had that nightmare of a freshman season, we may not have seen JJ until this year. I really don't think Randall is going to be getting significant playing time outside of what Perrilloux received in 2007.
We will find out but IF Krags stays I think we will see significantly better QB play. No matter who is starting we will see much better performance and production.
Good God man, you have shaken me to the core. I have been looking corward to Mett as the one and only starting QB. My first thought when the NC game clock winds down is gonna be, "Finally, QB Hell is over. " Dont tell me that is not the case. Still shuddering.
In another thread the conversation brought up past QB controversies at LSU. It seems we have lived with them at least since the mid 1960's when Pat Screen got hurt and his replacement wasn't ready. After that Charley Mac kept two QBs in the mix and that created controversy. Off the top of my head I remember Mike Hillman and several others including Butch Duhe then Paul Lyons /Bert Jones to David Woodley/Steve Ensminger. There was even a mini dust up with Tommy Hodson & Micky Guidry. I have blanked out the Archer/Hallman years but remember Chad Loupe in one. Then there were the Rohan/Jamie Howard days under Saban even Matt Flynn Jamarcus to some degree. No need to relive recent history. As someone said the most popular player at LSU is the second string QB and will be forever I guess.
It's Miles' method. He will always utilize two QB's and I can see why. It gives opposing teams' coaches fits or, minimally, a lot more to game plan for. They only have so many days so having to plan for even a "maybe" puts a lot more on their plates. After Mett/Randall (assuming all goes as most are projecting) we'll have Stephen Rivers/Jarrard Randall. Then Stephen Rivers & Jared Foster or possibly someone else signed in 2012 or after. Exactly how opposing coaches will feel. Suck it up beyotch... if you like playing for Championships. :yelwink2:
LOL .. yeah wouldn't it be a hoot. Mett will start, .. but then CLM will run so conservative, that Mett will never shine. Then, little by little, Randall gets "worked in", then we'll play Bama ...Mett will thrown an int, Randall will come in, run the option. Next game .. Randall starts .... Mett gets to come in at the very end and take a knee. CLM is on interview the next day .... well, Louisiana Tech was showing us some things we didn't expect, and we just felt Randall gave us our best chance for victory. He then goes on to say that the title "starter" doesn't mean anything around here, that both guys have skill sets, and we will use them both. He finishes it with ,, we still intend to use Mett, but we are waiting for the right time, the right set of circumstances to present where Mett's skill set gets the call. LOL ... and then Sabanfan will tell us it is a non-story. Lasalle, and Blem et al., will say that Randall adds the "run option", and is more mobile in the pocket, and thus can save a play with his feet. .. followed by .. we're 20-0 .. get over it man!! :hihi::hihi: Dang .. I crack myself up sometimes. Better go take my meds.
