Everybody in Tiger Stadium will be comparing Quinn to Welker the first time they see him play. A few inches or pounds doesn't matter. Harris has never thrown a pass in a college football game and Jennings only a few against R-Kansas and Iowa. (And he didn't look good or comfortable against the Hawkeyes or in the Spring Game) At least Mett had JC experience and a RS year. There's a lot to be apprehensive about. Time will tell.
Yep, an bama is waiting for a QB that didn't throw a TD pass last year, was 18-36 (50%) with zero TD's and 1 Int. If you saw their Spring game, you can see they are in need of a QB big time. Plus throw in the Lame at OC. I'll take my chances with Cam and what we have at QB. Look at the teams replacing QB's just in the SEC, an what some teams are returning in the SEC.
Don't say....... Chizik predicts Auburn will lose two games in the 2014 season PhillipMarshall Former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik predicted Wednesday that Auburn will go 10-2 in the coming football season. Chizik, on the College Sports Today show on Sirius satellite radio, said he expects Auburn to lose at home to South Carolina and on the road at Alabama. Chizik said he believes South Carolina is “loaded” for the coming season. “I think South Carolina will get them,” he said. Alabama got Chizik’s nod because the game is at Bryant-Denny Stadium. “That’s almost one of those 50-50 deals,” Chizik said. “If the game was at Auburn, I would pick Auburn.” Chizik was Auburn’s head coach from 2009-2012. His 2010 team, led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton, went 14-0 and won the BCS national championship. He was fired after going 3-9 in 2012.
That dude was a horrible coach who hit the "Cam" lottery for a year (and also Gus)... 19-19 without Cam at auburn and 24-38 overall (again w/o Cam)...
Not sure if it has been discussed, but is there any chance that Fournette lines up in the slot at times? Or have a formation with both Hilliard and Fournette in the backfield and send Fournette in motion so that there's the threat of both a quick handoff up the middle to Hilliard while also forcing the defense to account for Fournette in the passing game? Or is that not Fournette's game? Based on the high school clips, I picture him closer to being a bigger Reggie Bush rather than a Jeremy Hill (although not sure if that perception is accurate). I also recall that they wanted to utilize Blue in the slot more although I don't think they ever did much. Not sure if that was last year under Cam or the year before that.
You remember last year, at times Hill, Magee, Travis Dickson, ect split out wide to create mismatches. All used very little, due to having OBJ and Landry. Spread the field and Mett knew who would be open, last year was too easy. Cams offense will show a little more this year. Years back, Les, Frank and the staff would start some of the younger RB's from the FB position, with certain plays.
McGee in motion, Fournette stays put. Keep the playbook as simple as possible for the freshman early in the season. And expect to see TM in the backfield on third and long to pick up the rushers. I wouldn't be surprised to TM used a lot for screens.
sorry to take so long in responding friend and don't at all disagree with your assessment here. I have a lot of confidence in Cameron and his ability to manage the offense in such a way that will compliment what should be a pretty damn good defense. I don't have unrealistic expectations, though I'd take some unexpected results, but I do expect that Cameron will have them as ready as they can be. Couldn't agree more about the difference in the high school game and a saturday night in any SEC stadium.
