There seems to be a lot of competion for the RT spot - mainly between Jarvis Jones & Joseph Barksdale. Either one of these guys would be great & I have no concerns regardless of which won of them wins the starting spot.

Personally though, I'd like to see Jones working more at RG as I think he could over take Lyle Hitt there, and having Jones & Barksdale on that right side would be a tremendous strength once they get a few games under their belts.

I'm wondering if the coaches aren't playing them both at RT for better competition and to see which one wins that spot, and then whichever one doesn't will move over & try RG for the Fall.

Then again, we don't really have any depth at RT besides these 2 guys, and we've got Josh Dworacyzk backing up RG, and he'll be tremendous also. I'll be curious if he can end up taking over that starting spot, because Hitt did fine last year but I don't think he's got the potential of any of these other guys.

Update: McCoy is at LT, while Jarvis Jones is at RT. If Barksdale ends up winning the RT spot, I could see Jones taking over LT once Ciron goes pro (and vice-versa).

From what I'm hearing, Ron Brooks is making a strong push at CB.

This is from the Sat practice report...

The receivers appear to be ahead of where they were at this time last spring.

Corbin has been moved to defense and J.D. Lott has left the program. The tight ends, other than Dickson, had problems catching the football.

Barksdale worked with the No. 1 unit at right tackle. Jones was working with the second unit.

Hatch and Lee were not as accurate throwing the ball in drills Sat as they had been Fri.

Alexander was at practice, but did not participate in drills. Beckwith and Cutrera did not go through drills. Both were at practice. Beckwith appeared to have a leg injury.

Foyil worked with the No. 1 unit at middle linebacker. The other starting linebackers in the base defense were Sheppard and Riley. With Foyil practicing with the first unit, walk-on Lydell Smith was the second-team middle linebacker.

To add to your point, it seems that Matt Flynn's last two interceptions were directly because Toliver broke off his route and Flynn threw to seemingly no one and the ball was easily intercepted. I imagine it's hard to trust your WR in big games when he makes huge mistakes like that.

I think it was Toliver in the BCS title game that did indeed run the wrong route that caused the interception.

That was disconcerting, to say the least.

Matt Allen has not cracked the 2 deep depth chart as of yet. I know a lot of people are high on him, but Barksdale, McCoy and Jones are all ahead of him at this point in their developments.

this team right now is ahead of last year's one in spring.

neither QB is ready to play an 8-game SEC schedule... at all... and neither WILL BE ready by Sept, but once they get RP back, the team will be fine.

The backs, WRs, O-Line, D-Line, CBs, safeties, special teams, etc... all look real crisp.

I guess it's to be expected, though, because when you think about it, it really hasn't been THAT long since they played a game with the Jan 7 game.

The DBs are looking really good.

Eugene, Hawkins, Phelon Jones and Ron Brooks all look good. Add Patrick Johnson to the mix come June, and we are going to be just fine at that position.

Chad Jones came in on dime packages. I surely don't see him ending up that low on the depth chart.

Alright, now that Spring practice is over. Any changes we need to make to the projected depth chart?
