If we have to move McCray or Jones to CB, we're in trouble. Jones could do it, but he's a natural safety - I don't see the reason unless the other guys are that bad. No way in hell could McCray be a CB.

I think they were probably playing nickel/dime, and the guy mistook it for them playing CB...

Definitely. We have too many "athletes" and CBs for Chad Jones and definitely McCray to play CB. Also I could see Riley and Shepperd at the OLB and Cutuera looking on the outside. Coulda believed Chad Jones playing some OLB but he said he doesnt want to play their.

Based on day 1 of Spring practices, here's your depth chart for O-line:

    LT:
    1. Ciron Black
    2. Earnest McCoy

    LG:
    1. Herman Johnson
    2. Ryan Miller

    C:
    1. Brett Helms
    2. T-Bob Hebert

    RG:
    1. Lyle Hitt
    2. Josh Dworaczyk

    RT:
    1. Jarvis Jones
    2. Joseph Barksdale

The big question mark is whether Jones or Barksdale will win the starting RT position. Great competition there.

What's up with Cutrera? There was no mention of him in the depth chart. They listed Ace Foyil, Parso's favorite Tiger, as the backup at MLB.

I completely agree about McCray. He seemed to struggle most when he was matched up one-on-one with a receiver. I was curious about Jones playing corner as well, because that's something that I guess if he was up to it they could perhaps do some of with the three safety look we have featured in the past.. where Chad would actually line up on a receiver. Most likely it was a mistake, but the guy sounded pretty confident about it. Dunno.

    Safety depth looks like:

    SS
    1. Coleman
    2. C Jones
    3. Francois

    FS
    1. Taylor
    2. McCray
    3. Francois

I think Chad Jones will be starter by the time the season rolls around. Just too much talent to be backing up in his 2nd full season. This kid will be as good as Laron Landry.

    LSU plays 4-2-5 primarily.

Chad can be a backup at SS and still start.

They actually did a few 3-3-5 sets today with Pittman as an "OLB" playing DE in a standing stance.

    I liked it a lot.

When they announce the line-up, it's not a 4-2-5. Nickel back is not a starter, regardless of how often they are on the field.

We tried this with Chase Pittman 2 years ago with very little success.

I'm excited about our D-Line. Oh, and our offense.

    :hihi:

Cutrera.. i'm hoping someone steps up to take his spot. He didn't impress me so far. I'll hold out hope for him though.
