I'm glad the Advocate is showing Cutrera some love, being that he's from my alma mater. That being said, give me the best players. :LSU231:
SCT, Welcome to Tiger Forums!!! We've got a great little forum here for Tiger fans and college football enthusiasts.
That's true. I just find it hard to believe because Keiland is the farthest from a complete RB of the 3. Yea, but we would've said the same thing last year & then Hester came out of nowhere to be a 1,000 yard rusher. I think the coaches would rather have one RB get the bulk of the carries. The question is if one back will separate himself.
I don't think the Spring Game made people feel much better about our CB position. It isn't going to be a liability, but it won't be a strength either. Let's just hope these guys continue to develop on into fall.
I actually caught some flack last year for saying Hester would pull away as the primary back in a thread just like this one. But I agree, the question is if someone can seperate themselves and we should have a better idea of that come Fall.
Good looking line up, but I think Ricky Jean-Francois will get a lot more playing time this coming season seeing as how he played outstanding against OSU. PJ will be a starter but not sure at what point. His comparisons are sickening and if he's really that good... he'll be starting by the time we start SEC play. And Pittman from what I read got his extension so he should be in the line up unless things have changed since last I saw the news.
will be fine in the secondary. CH is a beast. There are alot of people capable at the other corner but C-Hawk is the best i think in both run defense and pass defense. I think Ron Brooks is a warrior and great in run support, probably the most gifted corner physically just hurts himself mentally. Jai is good also, I think Phelon will be ok just not ready yet. PJ is a hell of an athlete and has great work ethic could be huge if needed. Safety is a given probably the best group of Safeties in the SEC maybe nation.
Give us a break, the coaches have a stable, they want a stable, and they want to play any of the horses at any time. You need 4 quality RBs to last through an SEC Season, especially with people gunning for you. Observation: LSU "turned it around" last year in a key statistical category, the ONLY reason we made it to the top. Fumbles was so bad before last year and early last year, Hester got all those carries because he showed that you'd have to beat his brains out with a tire iron before he gave up the rock. In the Spring game, Keiland sat BECAUSE he dropped a ball. THE DEPTH CHART AT RB WILL BE SETTLED IN FALL BY THE "STUD IN THE STABLE" THAT CAN HANG ON TO DA' ROCK! I think we're gonna see an LSU RB group with even fewer fumbles in 2008.
Cparso, is right that the coaches do not want just a stable RB scheme next year. Last year, the found Hester to be "the Guy" and it was Hester and then the stable. I think they will try to find that again this year for many reason such as not fumbling, cohesivness in the run game, etc... All he is saying is that they are looking for that guy to get the majority of the carriers who can be used for any and all situations. He is not saying that the others will not have their fair share of touches. I for one think they will try to find that guy but it won't work out as it did last year and we will have 2 or 3 guys who have close to equal amounts of touches with some flip floping between who the "it guy" will be throughout the year. Or basically none of the RBs set themselves apart from the others. Another reason I think this will occur is because I just get a feeling one or 2 or the RBs, like CS, will have nagging injuries throughout the year.
