I based my prediction on where he was on the depth chart during Spring before he was injured. Scott was behind Williams and Murphy was right on Scott's tail. Scott will be a 3rd down back a majority of the time to begin the season IMO. Injuries throughout the season will get him in the starting roatation a few times in the year. This year however will be more of a stable than it was last year when it was Hester and then the stable. Therefore the carries will be pretty even next year between Keiland, Murphy, and Scott.

I also predict that Ridley will get a share of the 3rd down carries toward the 2nd half of the season.

Where are you getting this from? I never saw anywhere that Keiland was #1, and I really doubt it.

Scott will be used to wear down defenses IMO. I wish we could've seen him in the Spring Game, but absent of that I'm still predicting him to get the bulk of the carries.

The coaches don't want it to be a stable. They want one guy to step up & take the majority of the snaps just like Hester did last year. It may be Murphy, may be Scott, but I really doubt it will be Keiland.

Only if Scott/Quinn Johnson get injured.

Otherwise Ridley's carries will be mostly limited to blowouts - just like Murphy last year.

A tidbit I picked up from a friend of mine who is a graduate assistant told me he ran with the 1st team a slightly more than the others. Also Sonny mentioned that Keiland was the #1 back coming into Spring and he was the started at the Spring game before being pulled. Not saying this is definetly how it will play out but they are my predictions and my prediction could change during fall camp. And I am expecting some injuries at the RB position this year like previous years.

I think LSU will try and find a primary back like Hester last year but with the talent at the position, what each brings to the table in regard to offensive sets, and the way Crowton likes to use all his weapons I don't think it will happen. However, I do see Scott playing the roll of wearing down the defense and possible the main guy to go in when we need a big play.

I also worry about the Scott and Williams being injury prone since being at LSU. That is why I see more of a stable used and Ridley getting slightly more carries than Murphy did last year. Ridley is also great at catching the ball out of the backfield.

Question: How often do yall think we will use 2 back sets this year. I feel that Quinn has to be out there a majority of the time because of the holes he makes, blocking ability, and not showing the defense what is coming even though I do not think Crowton worries about that too often.

The only way I see Scott NOT getting the bulk of the carries next year is by injury. He is the purest RB on the team and is a future NFL feature back.

That's what I thought coming out of the end of last season. CS has the best combo of POWER and speed. I think Keiland has better speed, and if one was to break away to the house, I'd guess it's Keiland. Every down, I'd take Charles. Murphy, we hear great things, but we need to see it in the game, not just practice comments. I think we are fortunate to have all 3.

Yeah I would like to see Scott wearing down the defenses, and Keiland/Murphy coming in to take it to the house. I think Scott will get the most carries, he is very very good between the tackles.

I haven't seen enough of the young guys to speculate much on the specialist and returners Red except for three things:

    1. Trindon will get most of the KO returns when he gets back unless one of the young guns has great returns early in the season. I'm hoping a guy like Brooks established himself as a good KO returner, I've not been impressed with Keiland back there.

    2. I am not sold on Chad Jones being a good punt returner from what I've seen and was really hoping one of our offensive weapons would emerge as a punt returner, like Jackson, Murphy, one of the Mitchell's, Holliday, etc. Jones of course could end being very good at it this upcoming season. He sure likes to take risks.

    3. Colt David will be the FG/xtra point guy unless he completely losses his accuracy somehow like he did in the spring game. I think they'll have whatever it was that got messed up fixed by then.

All of the punters have much more leg than they showed in the spring game. It took Fisher a long time to be able to become consistent and thankfully he got it by his senior year.

I agree. I think LB plays much more to his strengths. Plus, we are a tad thin at LB. As for DBs, we don't have great experience, (esp at CB) but it could be the most talented position. The good news is when we get the four or five "best players" on the field, we could be looking at four or five high NFL draft picks. These guys are incredibly gifted athletes.

I think we have two already committed, and IMO, that works. Esp the two that want to come to LSU(big time players). RB is sort of like DT...you can't have too many. RBs get injured, get nicked, get tired...its good to be able to switch out players and not lose anything.

Look at LSU last season...We could go from Hester to Williams to Scott to Murphy to Holliday and not lose anything. All had their part to play in the offense. We get these two stud freshmen and add them to the mix, the offense is just that much more potent.

I think we may be making way too much about the "depth chart" at RB. They are all going to play. Look at it this way, if K. Williams is the third guy to get carries, playing defense vs this team is going to be a terrific challenge. I think our WRs are loaded as well.

There really isn't going to be a good way to defend LSU in 08. What do you take away? I imagine most teams will start out stacking the line and trying to make us throw the ball. We have some great WRs (not even including the freshmen who will see some time) and a great pass catching TE.

Our only weakness from last year was pass protection. If we can protect Perriloux, making us throw could be bad news for a defense.
