I agree! :thumb: I like our depth a LOT for next season.

Recruiting Day is a day every year were fans tend to all of a sudden forget about the "STUDS" they got the year before--kinda like a toy at Christmas time.

We have TONS of YOUNG talent. I'm particularly interested in seeing how Loston meassures up in the safety rotation.

I'd also be interested in seeing us use a "Big Nickel" package at times--especially against teams using spread offenses (i.e. Florida) where Chad Jones mans the "nickel" spot but plays more as an extra LB.

You sure about that? Honest question, I really dont remember how big Trev was, though I do remember him being a little undersized.

How big is CJ really? He is listed as 6'3", 218 in his official bio. If that's the case, I'd say 10-12 pounds would be plenty. A 6'3", 230lb OLB with his speed would be nasty.

This link lists Trev at 6' 3", 230 lbs for his junior year:

The LSU roster currently has Chad listed at 6' 3", 214 lbs:

Odd...this link has him listed at 218 for the 2007 season.

And this link shows him at 215 for 2008. No way he has gotten smaller, is there?

I think Loston sees the field, but mostly on special teams. Maybe he sees some nickel/dime package time as well.

By year's end, though, it's anyone's guess. Had he enrolled early, it could've been a different discussion.

You have to think that our kick-coverage units get a boost from him. I don't nec. know if the stats reflect it, but I thought our coverage units could have been better.

Outside of Ryan Baker (who was a BEAST on kick-coverage) no one really stood out. ...well, at least not for any good reason.

In one of the games I made last season (the UGA debacle), DeAngelo Peterson was consistantly ROCKED, OWNED and BEAT DOWN on every, single, kick off..... He was just man-handled. ...made him look weak and skinny.

Ron Brooks made a few plays that stick out in my mind. But overall you are right, we've had better coverage units in years past. I remember the 07 squad had Coleman and McCray running down there every time, they usually met at the intersection of the return man and the 15 yard line.

There definitely needs to be changes on D, especially the DBs and LBs. I like Peterson and Hawkins at CB. Its S play that was really lacking. Very poor tackling and missed assignments were the norm. Id like to see Hatcher play over Coleman. He didnt play much but was more impressive in the time he had from what I seen. He was a sure tackler and wasnt constantly beaten in coverage. I doubt Jones goes to LB but I think that would be best for him in the long run as well as the team. So I think he plays the other S. With Loston, Coleman, and McCray battling it out for PT.

Trev Faulk was 215 with bricks in his back pockets. He wasn't close to the numbers listed at LSU. It was a huge shock when the NFL Scouts measured him and reason #1 as to why he wasn't highly sought after.

With the freshmen from last year knowing it's their time and the OUTRAGEOUS defensive backs we brought in this year, I'm VERY encouraged. I can't wait for some football. Defense wins Championships. We've already proved that at LSU, and having moved to Pittsburgh and watching the defensive bullys on this pro team, I'm even more convinced.
