I read about both those accidents this weekend. Just horrible. The Wisky coach lost both his wife and his daughter. And add another from the sports world.... Bill Yoast, the high school football coach whose undefeated 1971 team served as inspiration for the classic film Remember the Titans, died Friday at an assisted living home in Virginia. He was 94.
True. Here are 2 Buckner career facts few may realize. a. While Pete Rose holds the MLB record for most career hits, during the years Buckner and Rose were in the league together, only Rose had more career hits than Buckner. b. In a 22-year career, Buckner never struck out 3 times in a game. Never. I salute ESPN for not leading its Buckner story with the error. It included the play, because it was too big to be ignored, but they celebrated his accomplishments first.
It's amazing that the kid can barely talk in a normal manner but his phrasing while singing is perfect.
Right and the game was tied when he made the error, so while it did cost them the game, there's no guarantee that the Red Sox win even if he makes the play. The way the highlight and the story has been told over the years makes it seem like, had he made that play, the Red Sox win the World Series.
