That is correct. It was Steve Gains that took on that role soon after and later died in the plane crash.
I went and watched some clips yesterday for some immediate laughs. The writing was brilliant, the characters were so quirky and yet well-developed. I honestly believe that they could be the GOAT ensemble cast. The list of talent on that movie....ridiculous. I think 22 Twain and the maid/butler scene were my two favorites. Peter Falk as the "Sam Spade" send-up was awesome. Can you imagine though, in today's climate, someone like Peter Sellers getting away with the big-ass Chinese teeth, the fu manchu and the soul patch? Major cultural appropriation and absolutely hilarious.
Acually "Honkette" JoJo Billingsley (RIP) should have been on the plane, but decided against it. Claimed she had a dream or premonition of the crash & was meeting Skynyrd in Baton Rouge.
Yeah, well I'm not a man so I'll bitch up for the rest of y'all. He was an asshole but I sure did enjoy his movies. Very sad face.
