It's a bandwagon town where there are more fans of other teams than for the local team. They lost the Rockets and Clippers, couldn't sell tickets for the Padres and Chargers and have come close to losing both of them. They claim to be America's finest city and can be quite arrogant about their teams, then don't support their teams until they are playing well. Today they have the best player from the last decade (LT) and they boo when he has the ball. Then they boo at the calls. Then they boo at the end. I just believe they deserve their annual choke job. I lived there when they made the Super Bowl and World Series. I couldn't believe how they acted. It wasn't excitement. It was pure arrogance. The Padres were then swept by the Yankees and the 49ers scored the quickest TD in SB history en route to destroying the Chargers. I thought it was justice. Sorry. I just don't like their fans.
Went to SD last april and was watching a baseball game across the street from the stadium at the tilted kilt. That's why they don't go to the games...they are able to watch it live just across the street for free and the beer is cheaper! BTW, I did help their economy...i went to the friday night game and drank alot of beer.
I used to go see a baseball game and there may have been 2,000 people in the stands. Around the 7th inning they would put three numbers on the board and you had to guess the attendance. They would put up numbers between 20K-30K. I used to laugh.
Don't be sorry, I don't like them for many of the same reasons. I thought you may have been leading in the direction as to why the Chargers cannot get a new stadium which, is another lame excuse. People in San Diego= I went there on vacation for 3 days, lost my mind and moved there. This town is chock full of just that. So yeah, visiting fans travel well here and really, they live here too! That is where the bandwagon factor kicks in. Less then 10% of this cities poopulation was born and raised. Kinda tells you something... I hate it here. I am trying hard, very hard to get out. But it is a great place to visit. :thumb:
I understand completely! It's easy to get fooled into believing it's a great city when you visit. They hide their poverty, crime, issues, etc. well and they do a good job of dressing up all areas tourists visit. People think it's an oasis but don't realize the water problems San Diego has. They do a good job of watering plants near the airport, freeways, hotels, etc. but yet it's a desert. It's nice knowing what the weather will be but I got tired of the same thing everyday. I enjoy color changes, rain, a cool day, etc. but they just don't have any of that as there are no seasons there. When you mix in the drugs, illegal aliens, gangs, pollution, traffic, financial problems, overpriced homes, high cost of living, etc., it just really got old quick. I'll take TX, LA, MS, AL, FL, GA, TN, VA, AR any day before going back to Cali! I hope you get out before you lose your mind or all your money.
