Yeah, but he has a hell of a talented team. Great OL, pretty good rookie QB, great WR, very good rookie RB (who I wanted the Saints to draft), great defense. Could be that if he was a better coach, Jets would have been doing a lot better.
Everybody's going to be second-guessing his decision to go for the onside kick... even the announcer said he wouldn't have done that (after-the-fact, of course). And they are questioning him for it right now on the radio. 57-year-old Norv is an interesting coach. Coached seven years for Washington with a losing record (49-59) and they only got to the playoffs once when he was there (as a wild card team). Then, after going back to OC for a few years, he gets a 2nd shot as an NFL head coach, and he goes 9-23 in two seasons with the Raiders. Then after going back to OC for a year, he gets a 3rd shot as an NFL head coach., and he goes 32-16 in three seasons with the Chargers, going to the Playoffs every season, with a 3-3 record in the Playoffs (last year, they got knocked out by the NFL Champion Steelers, year before that they got knocked out by the 18-0 Patriots that got upset by Eli and the Giants). For his career, he is 90-98 over 12 seasons as an NFL head coach for 3 different teams.
