they could renovate in phases. replacing the lower bowl doesn't have to be in one big project

there's a little league field here in Montegut that ain't being used.
I'm sure them bleachers will hold all 6 Tulane fans.

unfortunately, tulane likes to pretend they have a real team by playing in a real stadium.

The reason they were built that way is the lower stadium is owned by LSU and the state. In order for TAF to solicit the funds and build on the donated state property they cannot structurally touch the existing stadium. It is also the reason the lower areas will not be refurbished any time soon. As the state economy goes so does state construction budgets. The only viable solution would be for TAF to have a new stadium built in about 20 years. That was about the lifetime of the original west upper deck and would give them time to recoup their investment on the latest improvments.

My point is that there are people lined up more than willing to pay that for sideline tickets with the facilities the way they are. If the demand was falling, because of the facilities, I could see it but that doesn't appear to be the case. I have no problem with them doing upgrades if it is necessary, I just don't think it is. At least not a new stadium. Clean up the corridors, modernize the concessions, reclaim some of the wasted space, and we fix 90% of the problems. I've been to 100's of LSU games (sidelines and end zones) and I don't have a problem with it at all.

I do not want a cooperate meeting facility like the new Texas Stadium. Let them keep all that high end posh crap for the pro stadiums. It's not the freaking Ritz Carlton, it's a college football stadium. Take a trip to Hot Springs if you want to have a spa day and be pampered. I like the grittiness of walking into Death Valley, the Colosseum of college football.

I'm with you. Do some internal lower deck upgrades maybe, but leave TS, the mecca of college football, standing the way it is! I mean this should not even be in discussion unless there were something structurally unsound and unsafe. o/w wtf, no way you build a new stadium. you can't rebuild history, legacy, magical sensations that TS lore represents and continues to deliver!

Whatever they do to the lower deck, I hope they figure out a way to acoustically make it even LOUDER !!!!!

Well this is the best explanation I've read yet. At least it makes the most sense.

They have done all of the upgrades that they can do with fresh paint. The lower sideline seats may be prime, but the condition of the portals, ramps, bathrooms and concessions is approaching dumplike conditions compared to other modern stadiums. Tradition or not, sections of the old stadium will have to be replaced at some point.

Just a matter of time and sooner than you think.
