Says Who? I know that LSU has had structural engineers looking at some problem areas for over 20 years. TAF spent millions to seal the entire concrete bowl because the re-bar was rusting inside the porous concrete. It's still rusting. That is a preposterous statement that no engineer I know would make. It could stand a thousand years as a ruin, like the Colliseum, but it will only be a few decades before the old 1924 sideline section of the lower bowl structure will be considered unsafe for use.
Anyone that is unhappy with the dark narrow halls or poor concessions that they must endure while using their sideline seats please PM me. I will be more than happy to take them off your hands and shoulder those burdens myself.
I don't have sideline seats but I think the tradition fund for them is $700 per ticket not including the actual ticket price. For that much cheddar I don't mind if people want to complain about things. Especially if those are the only tickets you buy knowing that most of that money is going to support other sports. I can see why some would want to see an upgrade to the actual venue they are going to be in and pay to see.
As proud as we are of Tiger Stadium, why wouldn't we want the stadium to be as glorious in those areas as it is on the field and in the stands?
they would not have built the addition if the lower bowl was not satisfactory. besides, the oldest section of the stadium, hold the least people. parking garages experience greater loads than tiger stadium
its gone up. its $750. greenie is having a heart attack over how much he is gonna have to shell out for my tix given tulane doesnt have the fan base, or team, to extort money like that. he has a hard time wrapping his mind around those kinds of fees. so yes, ill say that it would be nice to have upgrades from the dirty dingy dark ladies rooms. (thank you, khounba.)
I am a lover of tradition and TS myself, but all things come to an end. And in death there is rebirth. Was there no tradition at the Box? Yet we built a new one, moved there, and most people are happy. The truth is, TS is the people in the stands, and the tailgaters on the campus. That is what Tiger football is all about. Our facilities are considered top notch in every area and eventually the actual stadium we play in will have to match that standard. It will be a bittersweet moment if we have to move into a new stadium but more than likely we will in the next 20 yrs or so. Renovation will indeed be more expensive, and Louisiana is short sighted enough to go that route, but it would be painful and counterproductive in the long run. Everybody and every thing gets old. It's the law.
The upper decks were built to stand alone and apart from the lower bowl. The lower bowl could be replaced without affecting either upper deck. Coincidence, you say? . . .
I'm all for renovating the lower bowl, or even replacing the lower bowl, but it won't be because the stadium is unsafe. However, you seem to be changing your story sir.
